You know that's not something i really track or care about.   Wonderful that you and a former mlive message board guy had arguments.  He does seem pretty argumentative.

He used to be on here (or MTS) and was just an ass, and really I blocked him because he went sports talk radio in arguments and moved goal posts so often it just made me dumber.

I know how he behaved.

He made fun of me because I suggested Scherzer might be sent to Toledo after a bad game against Boston to work some things out...  Papi hit one out in the statues.  I was lectured that a smart org would not do that and the Tigers are smart.

Overnight Scherzer was sent to AAA.

This is sounding like the Monty Python Pirana brothers sketch.

Sportz could talk baseball, but he seemed to get it into his head that it was up to him to defend the purity of the board againt heathen know-nothings - whatever. I'm going to be clear that I'm alleging nothing here (:classic_wink:) but Sportz' behavior on the board got to the point where it reminded me of someone who on too many occastions had had a few too many before logging in.

Yeah, I think he knows baseball more than he is given credit for here, but I get the feeling he gets mean when he drinks.  There was an another former poster who was like that.  In his case, he was a very bright guy most of the time, but was very nasty and vindictive when he started drinking.  He left the board pretty suddenly after one of his rages.

I'm going to immediately pass judgment on someone who pays that butthole for twitter

I'm hopefully never going to see it: https://www.theblockbot.com/show-blocks/9BjDYX6HOyx7e4_4NT6-Y4YylY3UmpojDxvo6Zu8

besides the expected white supremacists, bots, and crypto-bros, I see I'm also blocking Miller Lite, FanDuel Sportsbook, and some Draft Kings shit. seems like a win.

It is going to be hilarious when the blue check means the exact opposite of what it always meant

They would be Foolish to do this on April 1st.

so what is the benefit for that blue checkmark now?  The whole point of it wasn't about the person tweeting, but the reader. You've devalued the product for the audience.... and giving the option to hide it just admits that.

The Congress Critter from Mantua, Va is good at this.....

This is great. Perfect way to get it all down on the record and in front of those American people who care to see it. Although I am struck by his being able to spool out his entire schtick uninterrupted, which seems remarkable in this era of bad feelings. I wonder at what point, when a congressman starts off on a thing like this, someone on the other side, e.g., a bombthrower like MTG, starts shouting them down, creating a ruckus, forcing the sergeant at arms to remove them from the room, and then going to their friendly media to loudly complain how the woke Congress of the United States suppresses free speech among duly elected representatives of The People, or something like that. That could be another norm they completely destroy in their quest to destroy good government and the rule of law overall. That’s gotta happen at some point, doesn’t it?

what you often don't see on a C-SPan feed is that  a hearing room or chamber may be virtually empty when something like this is happening. Members often don't stick around to listen to what happens when they are not on camera - so that limits the opportunity somewhat. Look for whether the camera is taking any wide shots. If not, I'd make the odds the room is empty as pretty high.

I don't know how many Republicans were there, but the room wasn't empty.

It doesn't matter.  It's a cult.     It's Heaven's Gate without the comet.

Sure, but as a tactic in the service of the objective to undermine effectiveness of and confidence in government in general, which is what the Banana Republicans want, might this not be a sneaky good one? There's no penalty among their base for acting the fool—in fact, there appear to be rewards—so it might be a low risk/high reward tactic for their purposes. I wouldn't doubt if they've at least batted around the idea.
