I suppose all one can do is hope that if these people actually start looking into things with a little energy they may learn something about how ignorant they are currently are, but that's probably expecting too much. (this is actually the real reason that people on the outside complain that the bureaucracy 'captures' people  - it's generally because once on the inside one-time bomb throwers learn they didn't understand how things really work.)

I’m coming round to wondering whether that the only thing that could stop the abject dismantling and destruction of the government would be court cases that tie up everything they want to accomplish. I’m not sure how that would work out because Trump’s appointees can probably just throw out cases without comment, or else the administration would just refuse to follow rulings and then dare anyone to do anything to stop them. I guess we’ll see …

I think thats definitely the plan with DOGE.   i saw writings that this is a tactic used in every independent commission type thing.   Last successful used to stymie that voter security task force to find all of the illegal immigrants who voted for hillary run by kris kobash

Members of congress will not all fall in line either.  They have to run again soon.

Question is, will they fall in line initially or not until the effects of it are hurting folks in their community will they finally stand up.

Maybe I’m being too naive and optimistic but I think we are going to have 3-4 years of all bark and n little bite .  I’m really trying hard not to pay too much attention either.

He's going to have some bite in areas where he has room to maneuver outside of Congress (namely tariffs and immigration), but the Margins in the House are incredibly narrow.... it's going to make governing really really hard, at least for the next two years.

The knives are out and I am here for it. MAGA Republican cannibalism is my absolute favorite, let them eat their own. Looks like Chip Roy won't tow the line so he will be primaried, couldn't happen to a better person. Republicans in disarray!!

The first few months will be the key. They will definitely overreach and try to cause as much damage to hurt as many people as they can manage to get away with. If the pushback is too great and they fold quickly, then I might agree with you. If they ignore any pushback and plow forward to go against even the wishes of the red hat base, then it will be Katie bar the door.

I wonder whether one strategy the administration has will be to indict Democratic congressional reps from red states on … ahem … trumped-up charges that will lead to their removal and open the door to governors in those red states to appoint Republican successors to those seats, thus widening the R majority by—what I am sure they will claim with a straight face—democratic means.

I don’t worry about giving them any ideas with this post—the Miller-Bannon strategy coalition has already at least spitballed this idea, I’m sure.

as pointless as it is to point out that Trump is a political black swan and any prior rules may not apply, I will none the less note that Trump is a lame duck from the moment he swears in on 1/20 so unless he really does intend to declare martial law and suspend the constitution, it is at least historical precedent for him to suffer the same fate as almost every 2nd term president - which is not getting much of what he wants while watching all the leaders in his own party angling for how to replace him.

There is no strategy here...

That’s what they want you to think. No, seriously. Get you looking the other way. Yeah, that’s a thing.

The American people have already given republicans the super majority.

lol, Trump is taking the bait on the "Elon is the real president" memes.  He is so easily triggered.

I'm picturing Major Burns having a tantrum because he's being replaced with Colonel Potter.

The team is separate from the players.

True, but I still find it funny.

One of my brothers is a lifelong 49ers fan... so I'm used to hearing them defended. My family definitely had interesting times on Sundays.

People are freaking out over fog now.

Becuase there's been fog and then people have been getting sick

You know, after the holidays, where they probably gathered with lots of other people are went to indoor events with lots of other people.

..........but it's the fog.

This thinking is becoming normalized now.

We're ****ed.
