It’s not odd. It’s expected because he’s white and the lady who told Lebron to shut up and dribble is a racist nazi.

I know that was your point.  I just wanted to call Laura Ingraham a nazi.

She's got their wave down.

We were notified that my SIL tested positive for Covid and my BIL/SIL were at our house for a week over the holidays.  No rapid tests anywhere (thanks Biden) so we went up to a local center that does it for our school district.  Ended up in line for 2 hours with a guy behind us.  He was in his 70's and I had to listen to him talk about "Babblin' Biden" and "Kooky Kamala", he had one for Blinken as well, but I can't remember it.  He fought for this country, but is saddened that he defended a country that has become socialist.  Since he retired, he says he spends a ton of time on Facebook.  He described it as 'fun', which I took as getting into groups that are feeding his views with memes.  I finally got him off of politics and it turns out he's retired from Chrysler, big union guy, and upset that the union isn't as strong as it used to be.  I can't help but believe he voted D his entire life, retired and fell into Facebook as Trump came along.

So with the cancelation of the Trump presser.... is that Trump caving?   Did he ever cave?

Yeah he has before. I think he was planning a North Korea style 4th of July parade that he canceled.

I guess the networks weren't going to cover it, so what's the point?     If they had done that a few more times when he was President we might not be in the mess we're in now.

As alarming as some of the polling data coming out about R voters views on 1/6 (and how views have hardened as such), generally speaking, 2/3rds still do not like what happened on 1/6 last year. That's the vast majority of voters

For him, there is very little to gain from having a big 1/6 press conference (when public attention on the events of last year are higher) when he can go do big mega rallies on any other day of the year and peddle the same falsehoods over and over when it's not high on everyone's mind.

Maybe he's cancelling so he can claim that he and his red hat base are being muzzled by the Deep State and the Fake Media.

I will grant that she is speculating, since she wasn't there, but I totally buy her hypothesis.

I totally think that's true.  There's a reason they wanted a taped message.

And a reason it took six takes to get a message they felt they could even put out there.

I don't know why you would consider that alarming.  I don't like what happened at the Capitol any more than I like any of violent uprising around the country for different reasons (or really no reason at all.)  Most people with my political views feel the same. You don't have to agree with or support the Capitol riots to be a Conservative or Republican.  This line of thinking goes right a long with if you didn't vote for Biden you are a Trump supporter.  You guys need to expand your thinking a little.

When you said it was "alarming" I took it to mean what I posted.  I apologize if I misunderstood.

Comparisons of the Capitol riots to what happened 'around the country' are not valid.  The riot at the Capitol was a specific event with a goal of interrupting the certification of the transfer of power from one administration to another by interfering with official government business.  It wasn't a random protest in the streets.  They were storming our seat of government and it had the blessing and encouragement of a sitting US president.   Nothing else that happened in 2020 remotely compares to it.  It was an event on the scale of the War of 1812 looting of DC, Pearl Harbor, and 9/11 in terms of significance.  It was an attempted coup.

In 2020?    How about ever?    Okay, maybe in 1861-1865.     But then again, this was just the modern version of the Confederacy and 2021 was 1861........it's only the beginning.
