Zadina has worked hard on his two way game and has a better PPG than Kotkaniemi in the same draft. And he's 21. I fear what you all would expect from the kid if the Wings ever won the 1st overall. I think each of the four names - Zadina, Berggren, Veleno, McIsaac - are pretty much playing to their draft spot. Fine. But I won't lie, the day after the draft I thought it could be transformational, with Zadina a top 3 pick, Berggren and Veleno mid-firsts and McIsaac a late 1st. May have been as much a case of me drinking the Kool-Aid rather than being too down on them now Quote
gehringer_2 Posted September 27, 2021 Posted September 27, 2021 the difference with Ras is that he can flash a certain level of physical dominance. Of course so could Mantha, didn't make him a good player - only meant that you could project a possible scenario where he is. Freely admitting that I haven't seen that much of him, to me the question with Zadina is whether he has the skill to ever draw your eye to him as a dominant player on the ice other than when he is working at an exertion level he can't sustain. I'd say Mantha was a good player. So were Nyquist and Tatar. They're better than average 1st round picks. although were picked later than the 1st. I think Bertuzzi and Hronek play like mid-late 1st round picks, so those are wins somewhat. Quote

buddha Posted September 27, 2021 Posted September 27, 2021 i dont think Ras is close to Mantha. mantha was big and very skilled. his problem seemed to be inconsistent effort. Ras gives effort, he just isnt very skilled. i think he has a place in the league as a big center who can get in front of the net and get/give punishment. but a third line plugger isnt what you ideally want from a top 10 pick. mantha is a borderline first line winger. he's much better than ras. buddha Posted September 27, 2021 Posted September 27, 2021 i would rather have chychrun than hronek and the pick as long as were going back and complaining about ken holland draft misses... Quote

Mantha plays like he thinks he is Wayne frickin' Gretzky. He wants to float around above the fray and wait for some hard worker like Bertuzzi to set him up. Problem is that he is about 1000 goals short of earning that kind of deference. Edited September 27, 2021 by gehringer_2 Quote
slothfacekilla Posted September 28, 2021 Author Posted September 28, 2021 It looks like the Wings will be on NHL Network tomorrow against the Blackhawks. Looking forward to hopefully being able to watch some of it. https://www.nhl.com/gamecenter/det-vs-chi/2021/09/29/2021010029 Quote
slothfacekilla Posted September 29, 2021 Author Posted September 29, 2021 No Larkin for the first two preseason games at least (F Jamie Benn). I wonder if we see Bert, he sat out a day for maintenance so he must still be coming back from injury (and not just his brain). Quote
slothfacekilla Posted September 29, 2021 Author Posted September 29, 2021 Disappointing lineup... Quote

slothfacekilla Posted September 30, 2021 Author Posted September 30, 2021 Rasmussen taketh away too, he got lost in front of his net (bad coverage overall) and the Hawks tie it up on an easy goal. Quote
buddha Posted September 30, 2021 Posted September 30, 2021 vrana out 4 months. ouch. hello lucas raymond? Quote

lordstanley Posted September 30, 2021 Posted September 30, 2021 Depressing out Vrana. The news today took me totally by surprise so I guess I wasn’t paying enough attention to his injury last night. Better lineup for a home game tonight. Quote
slothfacekilla Posted September 30, 2021 Author Posted September 30, 2021 Looking forward to seeing Leddy/Seider, Suter, Raymond, Veleno, and Zadina. If someone tries to touch Raymond hopefully Witter is on them! The game should be broadcast on the Wings' youtube. LDN with a nice shot: Quote

lordstanley Posted September 30, 2021 Posted September 30, 2021 The more I read about the Vrana situation, it sounds like rather than a major injury to him Saturday, it was more a case of his injured shoulder from worlds being sore during the first 10 minutes of practice. If so, what a wasted summer. Quote

slothfacekilla Posted September 30, 2021 Author Posted September 30, 2021 Watching Leddy is already fun! Ned made a nice save too, been feeling kind of nervous about him lately. Quote
lordstanley Posted October 1, 2021 Posted October 1, 2021 Just turning it on now Bleachy picture quality, but ok. I seem that Raymond has scored. 3-1 Wings approaching midway in the 2nd. Quote
Motor City Sonics Posted October 1, 2021 Posted October 1, 2021 Any video of Lucas Raymond's goal? Quote
