Plenty…torkelson is a good defender who has a few misplays. His work rescuing balls out of the dirt and stretching is fine.

Agree.  He’s struggled a bit with the over his head pop-ups, but otherwise brings some athleticism to the position.  Can’t dwell on an error or two.  Too small of a sample size right now and he should only improve with more coaching and reps.

Tork's play was tough, Haase's was just a mistake/inexperience, he didn't play the wind - you have to plan for it before you start your route. An experienced OF would/should have know that ball was going to fade to the left. It's blowing pretty steady out there it shouldn't have been a surprise.

Torkelson so far looks to be at best an average defender who has the advantage of youthful athleticism. Yes, he’s made some great diving catches, but so did Derek Jeter.

Unless he works hard on his defense and makes substantial improvement in his overall defense game from average at best to actual good, once Torkelson’s body ages and thickens they’ll probably have to move him off the field and into the DH slot permanently.

Same game, different day...at least we had the anomaly that was yesterday game one.  That 13-0 win is gonna take 4-5 losses in a row where the offense averages 2 runs per game to level off at this team's water's edge.

One of the strengths of Torks game is the one that is only ever noticed by its absence - he's handling the low quality throws. I've watched him dig any number of bouncers and wide throws. That may be more important than how many batted balls any 1b gets to. He's also looked fine going to 2nd for the lead runner. Of course we don't have much to compare to because neither Cabrera (still good with throws but zero range), Schoop or Candelario have been any great shakes there in recent seasons.

Cant have guys in your lineup who don’t make contact/obp and don’t slug.

3-0 is a huge deficit with this group.

Short of unsustainable heroics, 3-0 is more than likely a loss for this offense.

As suspected, Alexanders stuff looked a lot better against ST batters than guys who have settled in. He'll keep us in games, but he's still end of rotation material.

Signing Pineda could potentially be as big as trading for Meadows... so many people seemed content rolling with just Alexander.

David Cone said on one of the ST Yankee Tiger broadcasts that you need at least 7 starters in today's game. Glad they are thinking more about depth instead of concerning themselves too much about how to pencil guys in.

For all the shit I've given AL, Meadows was a great signing.  This team could easily have 3-4 more losses at this point without his bat in the lineup.  Now just gotta figure out 2nd and 3rd base next season.

Torks  defense is the least of our worries. Pop ups need work.  Baez’s thumb is number one with starting pitching health second and outfield defense third and Badoo fourth. The hitters will eventually come around but Badoo worries me.
