CMRivdogs
Morning background music. She's a fairly new artist with some old school soul sounds. It definitely passed the "drop the needle" test
Mr.TaterSalad
My favorite Led Zeppelin song by one of the best rockers (women or otherwise) of all time.
Biff Mayhem
I was going to put this in the “things that bring a smile to your face” thread but it’s probably better here. https://youtu.be/mKA9mrR8gDQ
lordstanley
No one, not even the Montreal Canadiens or New York Yankees, does pomp and circumstance better than the Brits.

I watched the entire procession although I have no interest in the Royals and found it fascinating. It was a very nice tribute to Queen Elizabeth. CMRivdogs
Sorry, but I spent most of the day parked down by the lake. In my case it was actually a river. Edited September 20, 2022 by CMRivdogs

Mr.TaterSalad
I had never heard of Pony Bradshaw, but he came up on my Spotify indie country radio mix today. Good stuff!
Biff Mayhem
Just finished the Adam Carolla interview of Jewel and visited this song. Holy crap. From about halfway on she absolutely kills. She's an artist I missed but I am going to do a deep dive now.
1984Echoes
Pretty amazing "conversation" between Jewel and the lead guitarist... I always liked her - quite a lot - but I've never seen this before and... it is amazing...!
Mr.TaterSalad
RIP Coolio. I loved Amish Paradise by Weird Al. Without Coolio there would be no Amish Paradise.
Mr.TaterSalad
RIP to Loretta Lynn. As a big fan of real, traditional country, I am sadden to hear of her passing. She was truly a revolutionary force for woman in music, country genre or otherwise. At a time when women were not allowed to speak out and push the envelope in music and entertainment, she did. Loretta wrote and sung songs that pushed the boundaries of music and what women were allowed to sing about. From Coal Miner's Daughter to Rated X to The Pill to You Ain't Woman Enough to Take My Man.
lordstanley
Considering that Coal Miners Daughter was made 42 years ago, until her death Loretta Lynn was truly a living legend.
Mr.TaterSalad
Some singers and songwriters have IT. A certain feature or thing about them that you just listen to them once and they pull you right in and keep you hooked. Tyler Childers has IT as far as not only country music singers go, but truly iconic American songwriters. I listen to a lot of great country/Americana/folk singer-songwriter folks from EmmyLou Harris, Rodney Crowell, Jason Isbell, Sturgill Simpson, Zach Bryan, Margo Price, etc. While I wouldn't put Tyler of Jason or EmmyLou, I'd vault him up pretty darn high on the list.
oblong
speaking of Isbel, here's a song I came across last week on Satellite radio.... this sounds like it could be Zeppelin.
lordstanley
This is a great question without easy answer. I’d give nod to The Stooges but perhaps I’m consciously or subconsciously adding in some of Iggy’s solo stuff.
Motor City Sonics
I get annoyed at Al Michael's saying Uh-Oh when a player is laying on the ground with a head injury, so I am using it on Under The Radar Radio tonight. This is how Al sounds in the final mix Al Michaels on UTR.mp3
Mr.TaterSalad
I share a lot of indie country, Americana, and singer-songwriter stuff on here and if you dig that kind of music you should give a listen to Charles Wesley Godwin and his 2019 album Seneca. Seneca Creek (song below) and Strawberry Queen are my two clear favorite tracks from the album.
Biff Mayhem
I ran across a Slingblade video which led me down a Doyle Hargraves rabbit hole. He has some pretty cool stuff for people like me that don't care for country music in general.
oblong
Dwight is as legit as they come. Given what Country music came to be after the 1990's I think some of the truer country, like what Tater often shares, can now be grouped into the americana/singer/songwriter genre. if you recall the Ken Burns Country Music doc there was a struggle in the 60's and early 70's on how you separate the Dylans/Kristoffersons/Cashes of the world. Kind of just came down to geography. But I think these folks today are bringing it back full circle.

I can't even put my finger on it but some twang doesn't bother me but there is so much out there that raises the hair on my neck. Dwight seems to have a bit of blues mixed in with the stuff I heard and that appeals to me.
oblong
I know what you mean. There needs to be something behind it. I think it’s laziness. The focus for many is to sing and jump around so they do the easiest lick.
