Mr.TaterSalad Posted May 4, 2022 Posted May 4, 2022 Curious question, what is everyone's 5-10 favorite songs of all time? We have a lot of eclectic music tastes on MTS/MTF and I wanted to see when it all boils down to it, what are your favorites? Here's my top 10 . . . 1. My Girl by The Temptations 2. Cover Me Up by Jason Isbell 3. The Boxer by Simon & Garfunkel (I also really love EmmyLou Harris' cover) 4. River by Joni Mitchell 5. Little Girl Blue by Janis Joplin 6. Red Dirt Girl by EmmyLou Harris 7. Take It Easy by The Eagles 8. Much Too Young (To Feel This Damn Old) by Garth Brooks 9. For What It's Worth by Buffalo Springfield 10. The Traveling Kind by EmmyLou Harris & Rodney Crowell Quote

Motor City Sonics Posted May 6, 2022 Posted May 6, 2022 (edited) A quick Top 10, but tomorrow my list would be different. In No Particular Order (I guess it's 11..........see, it already changed and I am leaving out Carmen by Bizet because I love the whole thing). Grounds For Divorce by Elbow (known for their ballads more, but darkly funny) How Soon Is Now by The Smiths (nothing sounds like it) The Barber of Seville Overture - Rossini (reminds me of Breaking Away) Astronauts by One Eskimo (beautiful song from a short lived group) Take Five by Dave Brubeck (probably piggyback that with Strange Meadow Lark from the same album) Starry Eyes by The Records (can't be in a bad mood when this is on) Mercy Mercy Me by Marvin Gaye (reminds me of summer as a kid) The Girl From Ipanema by Getz/Gilberto (too bad they didn't do more - stan and astrud got close, I hear, very close, so I get why they never worked together again) On A Clear Day You Can See Forever by The Peddlers (thank you Breaking Bad for introducing me to this) Cuyahoga - R.E.M. (favorite R.E.M. song by far) Prisoners by Doves (don't know why, just love this song) Edited May 6, 2022 by Motor City Sonics Quote

lordstanley Posted May 6, 2022 Posted May 6, 2022 My daughter's all-girls high school had their annual choir concert last night at a concert hall. This was one of the songs they did. 40 voices doing this one sounded great. Quote
lordstanley Posted May 6, 2022 Posted May 6, 2022 I gave myself one minute to have 10 songs I like pop into my head. Marvin's Mercy Me (Ecology) is probably the only one I can sing the lyrics to. I've got some catching up as far as the MCS, radio DJ, music aficionado goes. Quote
