pfife Posted July 18, 2022 Posted July 18, 2022 I think a lot of folks would say Ace of Spades is their best jam but..... No Voice in the Sky has 2 things that are just *chefs kiss* for me, it's the huge guitar chord coming out of the bridge into the chorus, and the way he inflects on the chorus..... both are so good. It's really a great tune. 1 Quote
Hongbit Posted July 18, 2022 Posted July 18, 2022 This reminds me that it’s been too long since I’ve rewatched the Lemmy documentary. Arguably one of the best biographical doc ever made. 1 Quote
pfife Posted July 18, 2022 Posted July 18, 2022 Killed by Death is an awesome tune and also an awesome title for a tune. And yeah, that doc is really good. Lemmy was truly a kick ass dude Quote

Man In Me is probably my favorite Dylan song only because smoking and watching the Big Lebowski is a past time. But Girl From North Country is one of Dylan's best. Quote
Motor City Sonics Posted July 20, 2022 Posted July 20, 2022 This version of this song popped in my head today. Quote

Biff Mayhem Posted July 25, 2022 Posted July 25, 2022 Off topic sort of because I am listening....with these: https://shokz.com/products/openrun?variant=41378978267336 Words cannot describe how happy I am with these earbuds. Granted they don't sound as good as an expensive in-ear set (we're talking the really high end stuff), but they're really nice for being able to be able to communicate and hear the outside world while out walking/bicycling etc. We walked around the zoo last week and I was able to have music playing AND listen to my wife go on and on and on and on about....well whatever she was going on and on and on about. 1 Quote

I find myself wanting to be able to hear what's going on and whatever I'm listening to as well. Lately I've been using a Bose shoulder speaker called a Soundwear - I don't think they make it anymore. What I like about the shoulder speaker is that I can actually fall asleep using it at night. When I've tried with earbuds they always fall out and get lost or it's not comfortable to sleep with. I've heard these bone conduction ones are pretty awesome too. Sony came out with some buds they call link buds that look pretty cool too. Quote

As I understand it, they're also better for your ears because they don't push air. Long term loud listening can definitely cause damage but these can't go too loud otherwise they start vibrating and it's annoying. They're loud enough that I can listen at reasonable volumes and enjoy all the nuances of the music/podcast. Quote
Mr.TaterSalad Posted July 25, 2022 Posted July 25, 2022 If there was only one song I was allowed to listen to from here to the end, this would be it. What a beautiful piece of art written by Isbell here. Quote
Mr.TaterSalad Posted July 25, 2022 Posted July 25, 2022 I'd also sneak in some Tyler Childers . . . Quote
CMRivdogs Posted July 25, 2022 Posted July 25, 2022 I'm not a huge fan of Joni, but....she can still pick it at 80 Quote

Motor City Sonics Posted July 25, 2022 Posted July 25, 2022 Last weekend and then today, when I was at two different stores "Free Fallin'" by Tom Petty played on the store intercom. A lot of people quietly sing along to that song...........so I was walking out the door I let out a very loud I'M FREEEEE.........FREE FALLIN'. Just one of those universal songs 2 Quote
pfife Posted July 26, 2022 Posted July 26, 2022 Tom Petty was so great. His death was one of the rockers that hit me the worst. Quote

Always a very entertaining show. He's one of those guys that seemed to reach a lot of people through music, a wide cross section of music fans who usually wouldn't line up together. It's not that his death hit me hard, it's just that it came out of nowhere. I mean, he was a rock star, of course he dabbled in drugs, but this was so surprising. 1 Quote
pfife Posted July 26, 2022 Posted July 26, 2022 Say what you will about Florida..... but to me, I get chills when huge crowds sing songs and those chills are even more intense when it's Tom Petty. Apparently this is a tradition there. Quote
