The Idiocracy of Donald J. Trump

That was enjoyable to listen to. Discussions on secret service arrangements.  Makes sense because they have to be with him at all times. Obviously he won’t sit in a cell but even a mugshot and knowing he was fingerprinted is almost as good as anything else.

Is this the Stormy Daniels case?  Most people don't care about that.  His followers are probably proud that he banged a pornstar and was able to pay for it.  As long as she's not trans, they are fine with it.  I want to see him get nailed for money laundering or something lke that.

Yes, tax fraud for running a fake charity would have been a more satisfying arrest.  Compared to the millions of dollars his family has stolen the Stormy Daniels thing seems trivial.

The comparison has been made to nailing Capone over his taxes, but nailing a mobster on ill gotten gains does at least relate directly to the purpose of the criminal enterprise.

When I said he'd might get cuffs, you mocked me.    Now, if he turns himself in, he won't, but if they have to go get him (because he wants to rile up the psychos), they HAVE to cuff him, don't they?   If it's NYC I am pretty sure the policy for anyone getting arrested for anything - is that they have to be cuffed.

I'm definitely hoping for the perp walk.   I hope the optics are damning for him.   They should be.  He has lost the last 6 years of elections (2018-2020-2022) because of his rhetoric and the insanity of his followers and the extremism.

Some think the optics will help him because some see this as only political.   Thing is, of all the shit he's done, this was the easiest to avoid.   Everyone already knew he's never been faithful (to a wife or anyone else), he should have just admitted what he did and taken the story away.    Of course, that would have taken a strategic thinker.

When Al Gore and Barack Obama were asked if they smoked pot they both simply said "Yes" and the story was over.   Clinton (I didn't inahle) and Bush (just a kid at 31 when he got that DUI) dodged their substance stories and dragged them out.

I still think he wins the nomination, goes with Kari Lake as his running mate,  and then loses in the general.  If there are more than 3 candidates in the Republican primary,  he wins because he has enough of the crazies (like Karamo in Michigan), but if it's just him and DeSantis, DeSantis will win and then Trump will run as a third party candidate.

I'm assuming Trump is not in New York. Wouldn't he need to be extradited to New York? That is of course he doesn't voluntarily turn himself in.

Of course he could call his crazies to Mar-A-Lago and surround it like an armed camp and then dare the authorities to come get him.    And that wouldn't be surprising.     He should have left the country, but lets be honest, outside of Russia, who would want him?

I don't know which way this is trending yet. Some polls have shown DeSantis with a lead over Trump in some places and some have shown him waaay behind Trump. My own take is that DeSantis won't pull mainline Trump supporters, So the question is how big a proportion of Romney's 2008 GOP numbers are the poeople who won't vote for Trump but haven't gone full party repudiation?

Guys like David Brooks for instance, still want to vote GOP in the worst way if any non-Trumper would run - he was talking up GOP governors the other day. But DeSantis is too far over the line for him. If DeSantis can't pull in a 'moderate' GOP voter already highly disposed to the GOP, he'll have trouble beating Trump just with hard core culture warriors, I see them mostly sticking with Trump.
