I've been wondering for some time how suddenly people think the GOP is the party of peace. Unless, of course, it means something similar to the song in To Be or Not to Be:  "a little piece of Poland, a little piece of France...."

Part amnesia, part delusion.

Say What? Does he even have a clue about what he's talking about?

Trump word salad. We should all be used to it by now. But hey, if he can be leveraged into supporting some kind of better direct election system, I'll go for it!

It kind of reminds me of the people who want to ban DST, when in fact it's more likely they mean the opposite.

I actually like Standard Time, so it wouldn't bother me much if they got their way. 😉

ETA: But whoever wrote that tweet about the popular vote was probably trying to be funny, and failed.

I would prefer year-round DST to year-round standard time. I don't want the sun to set as early as 7:30PM on the first day of summer, and I definitely don't like it setting at 4:23Pm on December 21.

I like the time changes.  It balances things out.

If you leave it the you get bad news either way.   In December we'd have 9 am sunrises along with 6 pm sunsets, or in June sunrises before 5 am and a sunset at 8 pm instead of 9.  I love it when we get those later summer nights where twilight is still hanging around at 10 pm.

In December I dont care what time it gets dark at in the evening.  My work day is done at 4 and I'm not going to be outside playing baseball.   But I do like it getting lighter earlier in the day.  Sunrises after 8 am before the change was rough and we'll get it it again over the next few weeks.

There's no easy solution when you go from 9 to 15 hours of daylight every six months.

That's the other thing: summer sunrises.

One of the few things I like about winter is I sleep better, but also, when I wake up and see it's getting light out, I know it's at least pushing 7:00AM. But in the summer, I wake up to go the bathroom or something, see it's getting light out, look at the clock, and it's 5:00AM. And that's on DST! I can't imagine how ****ty it would be in the same scenario to see that it's only 4:00AM.

see.... I like that.  My instinct is "Crap, I gotta get up soon... oh wait, I don't.  I got another hour"

But now I get up... it's dark... "Oh I got another hour or so... oh wait, I don't.  It's 7:17, my daily stand up is in 13 minutes...."

Permanent DST was tried in the 70s... I think it lasted a month before people got fed up with it, especially in the parts of the time zones that were the farthest West/North. I'm in the Eastern part of the EST and it would be dark until 8:30 am, and would still be dark when most people leave work.

I'm guessing permanent ST wouldn't go so well in the summer in the Eastern parts of time zones. I do like the 5 am sunrises, since I get to work by 6, but 4 am? Doesn't sound appealing.

So as much as I hate to say it, I think spring forward/fall back should stay: just change spring forward back to April so the change to dark mornings is not so sudden, and keep the fall back where it is.

I honestly think People don’t realize that changing the time doesn’t increase the amount of daylight.

Nobody is buying that narrative but the left.

The world's richest man is currently out there at Trump's side, showing up at public appearances, being involved with official events overseas (such as the one last month in France) and making statements that directly impacted budget negotiations and the debt ceiling debate

I'm not sure how one can look at the state of play and not see how, at the very least in terms of optics, all of this makes Trump look like a vassal for the world's richest man. I think someone would have to have their head buried in the sand in order not see it even

I got a Jury Duty Summons for Jan 21. Glad to not have phone access for the first full day of this ****show.

I will  be traveling all day that day and into the next morning. On purpose.
