“Nobody wants to see this”. That also is what he said about disabled and disfigured vets being out in public.

I think what’s potentially more alarming is the “let’s see how this plays out” part. What the hell could he mean by that??

What's wild is that he undoubtedly made this statement without a single thought about Jimmy Carter... Only how it affects him personally.

Classic NPD behavior

Exactly.

Also he's wrong. Who was it who said on another thread that having rituals is a good thing? Honoring a President in this way is a good thing, and it can serve as a reminder that it is a privilege and an honor-but also a responsibility to hold the office.

Unfortunately I still find the Musk Cesspool a bit easier for posting "News" and Opinion stuff. The same content appears on the Butterfly, it's a pain to link to.

No judgment, I get it.

BlueSky is cleaner and less creepy than Twitter, but it is not good for baseball news because people with accounts on both sites usually post on Twitter.  Then again, Twitter has 20 garbage baseball posts for every relevant one.

Honestly do believe that if the Adam Schefters and Jeff Passans of the world moved over, Twitter would lose a ton of it's utility.

People who are on these platforms for mostly political reasons underestimate how much casual sports and other non-political interest prop them up (or keep them from growing)

I think there is a lot more intellect in social media sports discussions than the political discussions.  In many cases, sports fans are relying on social for actual news and having honest debates whereas political fans seem to be mostly trolling each other.

That was the draw of Twitter back in the day. Especially when there was breaking news. As a guy who grew up in broadcasting way back in the 70s, it was almost like having your own personal news wire machine.

every time Elon says the word "algorithm" it just increases my certainty about having no desire to go back.

Some of the transit accounts I follow/ed on twitter have joined Bluesky, and a few metro transit systems have stopped posting updates on twitter.

My hope is that they all make the move completely to Bluesky at some point-I see MBTA alerts on Bluesky but not general posts as of now.

I try not to feed them... I still get caught into it sometimes though.

I sometimes quote trolls, but usually I do so to build off what they're saying in order to address everyone else.

Is it true Carter did not want Trump at the funeral but the protocols required he be invited?   I had heard that in passing from the wife but can't find any source.
