chasfh Posted January 11 Author Posted January 11 Did she hear it from MAGA media? It sounds like the kind of thing that might have started there. Quote

I had heard that in passing from the wife but can't find any source. I don’t think Carter would have done that. But he did have a state funeral so I am interested in knowing if having one means protocols be followed. Nixon did not have a state funeral. Neither did Truman. He planned for one but Bessie changed it after he passed away. There’s a photo of LBJ paying his respexts and he died 3 weeks later, leaving us with no living ex presidents. Quote

It sounds like another MAGA based false grievance Quote
Tigeraholic1 Posted January 11 Posted January 11 Sounds like the left wants you to believe Carter said that. But blame it on the right. Quote

I don't believe my wife would ever repeat MAGA propaganda. I have clarified her understanding as: "he couldn't wait to vote against Trump, can't believe he would want him there" so really no actual sourcing. Quote
CMRivdogs Posted January 11 Posted January 11 After thinking about it for a few days, I all in favor of a merger between the US and Canada providing both countries get to vote on the idea, there is a new constitution for the "new country" and an election is held to decide on an Executive Branch and Legislature. Courts will be part of the Constitution Quote

Courts will be part of the Constitution I blame reality TV, it's conditioned Americans to be incapable of social shame. Every previous generation of Americans would have been too embarrassed by Trump to elect him to anything, but we have a society apparently rotting from the inside out, that's now become incapable of maintaining even a modicum of self-respect. 1 Quote

The spouse pulled up a documentary on The Jerry Springer Show. The show fairly quickly morphed from your typical Oprah/Donahue type talk show with extremely low ratings to Supermarket Tabloid TV to one that featured full out brawls on a regular basis. Much like talk radio from balanced issues to Rush to talk show hosts emulating morning zoos featuring right wing propaganda (moderate and liberal talk doesn't sell automobiles). I hate to say it but even sports talk went in pretty much the same direction. Serious discussion couldn't get the ratings, schlock and bits sold. Fox News began the same way, getting killed by CNN on straight news, the only way to make $$$ was to emulate AM talk radio. The whole has trickled down to the point no one is happy unless they complain that the world isn't going their way. Quote
