Henning is an old school writer who sometimes makes controversial opinions to get people to read and discuss. I think the problem is that with social media, we don't need columnists anymore because any fool can make oddball opinions publicly now. When you hear Henning talk about the Hall of Fame, something that he takes more seriously than a lot of voters, you can see that he knows a lot about the game. As a an avid fan of baseball history, I have always liked that about him.

I was aiming more at the fact that despite Henning being off the wall a lot of the time, he is still out there actually - you know - reporting stuff he goes and finds out - like finding Kreidler and Perez on the back lots instead of just listening to press box announcements and recapping post game press conferences that are already on the net. Yes, he does report before others do sometimes especially with regards to the minor leagues. It is just sometimes difficult to distinguish between his factual reporting and opinion. Tying into the complaint about McCoskey writing a story telling little to nothing, the headline of the story (ie. "another Tiger starter down") just seemed deliberately provocative and could be interpreted to guarantee he would miss time when that wasn't (and still isn't) clear. Either way, when it comes to these injuries, particularly on one like Skubal's, it's better to just wait for official word before aimlessly speculating as to the severity. Javier Baez = Neifi Perez as an example.
