I like stuff about space and have not read anything on this movie.  I will watch for sure.

$10 million in it's first weekend.   $140 million budget.    HALLE BERRY BOMBS AGAIN.

I like space movies too, but ones that try for some sort of realism.  I thought Gravity tried to show it (not going to nitpick the fact that Sandy's hair doesn't float like Dr. Tyson did).   I thought The Martian was really well done.   Mission to Mars was stupid.   Gattica was sort of a space movie in a way and that's a possible future (with the whole genetics thing).   Interstellar tried to show something that could be real in a far fetched way, but I liked the effort.     Contact was thoughtful and more about human nature than about space, but I love that movie.   This one just looks stupid as hell.

Saw Doctor Strange. Liked it a lot. Very minor spoiler…..

it was as much a scarlet witch movie. Not a bad thing. But I’d say the ratio was 60/40.

I watched The Truman Show and think about when it was made (1998) and how they kind of predicted the future in a lot of ways, especially with Social Media.   If you haven't seen it - go back and watch it.  It's freaking brilliant.

There is a really good Ray Liotta movie that was shot in Detroit in 2001 called "Narc". It was a lower budget indie, so it didn't play in big megaplex theaters, so it wasn't successful, but it got good reviews and I'm not saying the movie is anywhere near GoodFellas, but I think Liotta's acting was better in Narc.   If you like gritty movies where the good guy/bad guy narrative is blurry, you'll love this movie.  It's really good.

The AMC/TBS/Whatever version shows him hit the guy twice with the gun..........but he hits him something like 11 times doesn't he?   I think I read somewhere that Ray accidentally him him for real a couple times too, but with the palm of his hand, thank goodness.

Narc was great. I own that movie!

Saw Maverick with the family over the weekend. What a fun movie! I loved that it used a lot more real effects instead of relying on cgi. The story was relatively predictable, but not a complete rehash. The flying scenes were fantastic (of course).

Saw Top Gun Maverick. Kinda cheesy in some parts but the action is amazing and I found myself tense several times. When news broke that they were making it, I was cynical and thought it would be terrible. It's not. It's definitely a theater movie. We saw it in a Phoenix theater where the chairs vibrated etc. Definitely worth that experience! My wife and I thoroughly enjoyed it.

Finally saw it today.  I really liked it, and agree you have to see this one in the theater….

worth subjecting yourself to the great unwashed masses. 🤪

My wife and I are thinking about seeing this, and I watched Top Gun exactly once when it first came out in theaters and I was like, meh.

Do I have to see the first one again in order to fully appreciate this one? Or do I not have to?

I'm on the fence as well... the first one isn't anything special for me.  When we saw Dr. Strange they had a special preview of the money where they showed a few minutes of a scene.  I was bored then.

I have never seen the original Top Gun.

Saw Bullet Train today. It had everything I love about Tarantino, John Wick, Deadpool and Fight Club.

Such a fun and twisted movie. Has two of the actors from Atlanta in it too.

Rotten Tomatoes critics have it at 58 but the fan reviews are way higher. Trust the audience.
