Makes no sense. That's the funny thing. If you set up a competition where the best best team is too likely to win, you won't have a league that is very much fun because the outcomes will be too predictable. You don't want team sports where there is no doubt in the outcome of the games or teams are able to have the kind of dominance that Serena Williams did when she was clearly the best player and just beat everyone. So most team games have evovled so that they have lots of random noise events that help obscure true talent differences from always controlling the score. (there is a reason footballs are funny shaped!). I tell you, if Tennessee loses and UCLA beats USC, then both Michigan and Ohio State have one foot in the playoff. Unless LSU beats Georgia, which isn't going to happen.
