kdog Posted June 11, 2022 Posted June 11, 2022 Daz, D Hill, Greene, and Victor Reyes all should play more than Grossman. He is a corpse. Quote

He didn’t have any future with the team anyway. In a lost season, this is a meh loss. Well at least it opens playing time for Reyes and Cameron to make final evaluations and allow Riley to play and make his MLB adjustment in a lost season like Tork. Another lost season 😞 Quote
mtutiger Posted June 11, 2022 Posted June 11, 2022 Obvious move. They need to go bold and bring up Reyes or Greene Quote

chasfh Posted June 11, 2022 Posted June 11, 2022 This is just through today—tomorrow it’s going to be ever worse: Since May 30, the Tigers as a team have hit three home runs. During this period, 12 different players have hit more, and another 26 players have matched us. https://www.fangraphs.com/leaders.aspx?pos=all&stats=bat&lg=all&qual=y&type=8&season=2022&month=1000&season1=2022&ind=0&team=0&rost=0&age=0&filter=&players=0&startdate=2022-05-30&enddate=2022-06-10&sort=5,d&page=1_50 Quote
chasfh Posted June 11, 2022 Posted June 11, 2022 Try this one on your imagination: Out of 2,542 teams that have played in the major leagues since 1901, the Tigers rank 2,521st in runs scored through 56 games. Flipped around, that’s 22nd lowest in history to date. That is 1st percentile run-scoring in historical terms. Quote
kdog Posted June 11, 2022 Posted June 11, 2022 A.J. Hinch asked about the boobirds Javy Baez is attracting at Comerica Park👎: "The more you struggle the more frustrated people become. We've got to focus on solutions. We've got to put our arms around him and get him in a better place." "We are not going anywhere without the production of Javier Baez, whether it's this series, this season or the coming years. He's on our side. He's wearing our uniform. We're going to support him." chasfh Posted June 11, 2022 Posted June 11, 2022 The Tigers have scored 159 in 57 games. That’s 2.79 runs per games. We are on track for 452 runs, the fewest runs per game in a full season since the 42-109 1942 Phillies. Before that, there were seven teams in the 1904-1909 deadball period that scored fewer per game. To avoid scoring less than 500 runs, we have to score 341 runs in our remaining 105 games. That comes to 3.24 runs per game. That would represent a 16.1% increase in run scoring from where we are now. That same 3.24 rate would tie us with Oakland for what would be the worst run-scoring rate in baseball as of today. Quote

What blows my mind is that they havent been shutout the most in the league - the Royals have. (IIRC) The lack of home run ball really hurts... if you're in a situation where you need 8+ hits in a game to score 4 runs on a given night, you aren't gonna score a lot of runs and win many games in this league. tiger2022 Posted June 11, 2022 Posted June 11, 2022 I feel bad for Rodriguez. He has nice movement on his pitches but isn't ready for MLB. Hinch didn't do him any favors the last few times by keeping him in there to get roasted by the other team. The guy doesn't have the poise and makeup to overcome things, like last start when he induced a typical pop up to center field and Castro let it go over his head; he just lost it after that and HInch just left him in to give up another 7 runs. Send him back down to AA to get his confidence back up and reevaluate him next season. Quote
