ya think? :classic_rolleyes:

there is definitely an "I would rather complain than have to lead" scenario.

It's starting to occur to me that Bernie prefers Republicans to be in power because then he gets more attention for his socialist megaphone. He needs the country to go extreme to the right so people will take his extreme-to-the-left rhetoric seriously. But as long as centrist Democrats are in control and making things happen for the people instead of the plutocrats—things like student debt forgiveness, infrastructure law, climate change action, gun restrictions, anti-hate and -violence laws and the like—as long as things are going in the right direction, the people who like those things aren't as receptive to Bernie's turn-everything-upside-down-and start-over message.

This is what I see behind Bernie's sandbagging the Democrats this late in the cycle.

It's worse than that. Bernie Sanders, along with the Squad, are grifters. Their brand relies on grievance politics. The more Democrats accomplish, the worse it is for them. They share a lot of qualities with Trumpers. Remember, it was Bernie Sanders who first complained of rigged elections when he lost by 3 million votes. They are the moral superior ones and everything is a purity contest much the way Evangelical Trumpers feel morally superior. They play footsie with Russia by complaining about aid to Ukraine. They're all about the outrage and not about accomplishing anything.

Not for nothing, I think this may be why Republicans are willing to sign onto legislation tightening up the electoral certification process for presidential elections. In the same way they want us to forget they are for total bans on abortion during the election cycle, they also want us to forget that they are actually anti-democracy during the election cycle, until they can safely eradicate democracy once they take democratic control of the other two branches of government.

The hurricane has created an event dynamic in Florida that bears watching.  I wonder if Desantis will use this opportunity to pull political stunts to help his standing in the 2024 Presidential primary.   This seems like a good time for him to put unpopular minorities in gulags because the Magas will like it.

Sadly, I think we all know the answer to this question.

But don't get cocky...........Don't stay home

I see a lot of Karamo lawn signs in my neighborhood.    Do people realize what a certifiable nutjob she is?    Remember Karen Spangler anyone?     If she because Secretary of State it would be a massive disaster, but she'd blame it on Demonic Possession.............and that's not a stretch.

I think the signs near us are because of one person.  I won't say where they live but I've seen her going around house to house, she came to ours.  Her original candidate for Gov got like .5%.

I don't see a lot of Whitmer signs out but for me, I am afraid of getting vandalized if I put a Democratic sign in front of my house.   The other side's so far over the edge now.

I don't because of the drama.  I have very nice neighbors who are very catholic and pro life.  Very good people.  But that's their calling.  They told me they were surprised when I had my biden sign up.   Of course nobody has offered me a sign either.  I had to drive out to the East side for my Biden sign in 2020 and was more than happy to "get out" and do it.

But one person with nothing to do can go around and beg people to put up a sign.  Whitmer supporters are busy working.

Regarding the federal elections.... do you think we'll know early on which way it's going to go or will it be a nail biter?  I think we will know fairly soon.  It won't be an all nighter.  Some swing districts in the east will tell us the story and what the polls were doing.

i'll need some kind of info on key swing districts though.  Too often the pundits will just say things like "IL-06 went R" like I'm supposed to know it's competitive.

I think how the urban Atlanta and suburban Atlanta turnout and votes are going in Georgia may be somewhat of a bell weather as to how the night is going to go for either party. They have two competitive races with the Senate and Governors races. Urban and Suburban Atlanta can possibly help tell us about which voters are turning out and who are they breaking for because it has a diverse mix of college educated, voters of color, black voters, working class voters, suburban woman, suburban white woman, MAGA white men, and young voters in the 18-35 demographic. The only thing I worry about there is the football angle. People may just end up voting for Walker because they remember him as a football God in their state and thus making that Senate race less of a bell weather because of the unique status of one of the candidates.

Christian Walker does not come across as a reliable narrator. Would not be surprised at all if he did a 180 (multiple 180s) over the next few weeks in order to just get more attention - from anyone. But he certainly sums up what I think of Hershel.
