Scottwood
Gosh, the Tigers could get either Jung, Collier, Parada, Susac or Neto. Edited July 18, 2022 by Scottwood

LongLiveMaroth
I'd be happy with Parada, Jung or Collier
RandyMarsh
I know it may be just as or even riskier to draft a catcher early but if Kevin Parada is there he may be too talented to turn down.

1984Echoes
The Rockies take a Pitcher.. One personal draft philosophy of mine I want to point out: Do NOT draft a catcher in the 1st round. I'm 99.9% against that. Especially for the Tigers. Gimme Jung or Collier...
1984Echoes
Jung or Collier... Please.

kdog
Tigers are taking Jung per Longenhagen at Fangraphs. Cody confirms. Edited July 18, 2022 by kdog
Scottwood
Sounds like Jung. That's a good pick. Him or Collier was kind of a tough call, but Jung is more of a sure thing. The draft fell their way.
1984Echoes
I like Collier more... And Jung is a bit stiff, even at 2B... But I wouldn't be upset at all with the selection...
TJ Rollercoaster
Longenhagen speculating that Collier might be heading to school now, with the drop in draft position (and associated bonus)
Tiger337
So, Jung can't field or run and has a weird stance, but he has a lot of potential as a hitter. I am glad they selected a hitter.
Hart
I'm good with it. Not sure where he will play but we could use somebody in our system who is more advanced with the bat.
RandyMarsh
I'm fine with Jung. Just glad we didnt take a pitcher, nothing against any of the pitchers or even the fact we've been burned by them for the most part but I just don't think SP are as important in this day and age as they used to with how teams use them. Barring a select few guys, teams basically just use them to go through the lineup twice every 5 games, it's almost to the point where dominant relievers have more effect on your record than they do cause atleast their limited innings are in high leverage situations. Hart
The way he runs does make me nervous that he will not be able to handle second or third. Seems very un-athletic. But at this point, I'd be happy even with a DH as long as we get somebody that can hit.

From what I have gathered his arm isn't good enough for 3rd so if he's gonna stay in the IF it's likely going to have to be at 2B. But the bat has the potential to be good enough for the OF so if he ends up there it wouldn't be all bad, like most hitters its just going to come down to how well he hits. RandyMarsh
Not saying he is necessarily wrong but let's face it no matter who we drafted Shep would've said it was a great pick. They could've picked me and he'd be like "He's 40 years old with a ton of message board experience so he's not some immature High School kid, he will bring a wealth of knowledge to the young tigers hitters. Great start to the draft for the Tigers!" 1

1984Echoes
If Wenceel is able to grab ahold of, and hold onto, 2B for the Tigers... Then yeah, Jung is probably headed to DH.

SoCalTiger
Don’t like the pick. Another defensive liability. Al’s specialty. Can’t wait for Al to describe the “sound of his bat hitting a ball “.

Tiger337
Cmo loves him! Jack Morris likes his bat, but in his the 80s when he was playing everybody was expected to be a complete player who could field his position.
