Jung and Graham are probably better thought of combined than Jobe and Pacheco were last year. Madden was an extra pick last year that we don't have this year and while the mainstream sites liked him, the more analytical boards were fairly sour on him. Madden's ERA looks good, but his peripheral stats this year are pedestrian.

Assuming Avila is replaced, whoever they get to replace him should at least be happy with these 2 picks this year as a building block. The Tigers basically got two 1st round picks from a value standpoint.

Also wonder if the first two picks are a reflection somewhat of their new hires...

Normally I’d assume both guys would start in Lakeland, but we already have Pacheco, Santana and Sequeira at their positions.  Might head straight to West Michigan.

I would agree with this. Pacheco probably shouldn't be pushed to WM quite yet and Santana and Sequeira haven't had sustained success in Lakeland. I am curious how this all works out with more MIF and playing time. I am guessing you will see an infield with Jung, Graham and Pacheco next year with Keith getting moved up to AA assuming he's healthy.

Stocking up on infielders in the org:

Toledo: Kreidler, Clemens

Erie: Lipcius, W. Perez, Workman

WM: Keith, T. Cruz

Lakeland: Pacheco, Santana, Sequera

TBA: Jung, Graham, TBD

And outside of Carpenter, Meadows, maybe Campos there isn't really an OF who could be considered a highly rated prospect in the system.

Rays' fans might have some beefs for the moment - they went 'off board' and selected a 6'4" 240 lb first baseman (out of HS!) in Xavier Isaac

MLB Pipeline apparently had him at 113, Kiley at 90 (per the FG chat)

Expand

Maybe the Rays picked Isaac so they can trade him to the Tigers for Jace Jung in 2026.

“He’s going to be a good second baseman,” Pleis said. “You can see his emotion and competitiveness on the field, and how he wants to win. He’s a gritty guy, his teammates love him, too."

Yep those are definitely all the things you need to play a good second base.

He gives 110% and gets his uniform dirty every game.
