This is not a contradiction. I'm saying if progressives are turned off for being called what they are, than we can pivot to Haley voters. I said we are ****ed because Castro is putting out disinformation about what Biden. said. I'm sorry your feeling got hurt because no one called you a tankie.

I'm sorry about the house of cards from which you cast insults.

The guy upset about tankies getting called tankies thinks I'm having the meltdown.

Not upset, I said it was a hilariously bad idea to insult people.  Then you pooped the bed which is even less upsetting and more hilarious, glad to help

I'm thinking about how it's obvious that the problem with the Detroit Pistons is that the players aren't insulting each other enough.  If they did that they would win more.

The Lions must be roasting each other daily.   That MaAuto blast Mahomes hit ol Travis Pfizer with is why they won the SB

I don’t know who came up with the term “tankies”, but it’s stupid. This and the Gaza thread have devolved into nuance-free polarization. And lots of exaggerated statements. Occasionally there will be a post that tries to show a balanced approach (Hamas is unquestionably horrible, but Bibi and his policies are also bad, just not as much, but can less Gazan kids starve or die, please). Casting everyone as in two camps, calling people names serves no good purpose. IMO

Apparently I do have influence since you got butthurt that Romad said tankie and you seem to assume that was directed at you.

It wasn't.  I was just amused at the definition of tankie.  I had heard it in the context of post-soviet studies and a little bit since Feb 2022 in context of GOP Ukraine haterz.

Tankie - Wikipedia

Quote

Tankie is a pejorative label generally applied to communists and those who align with Marxism–Leninism. More generally, the term "tankie" has been applied for those who express support for one-party socialist republics that are associated with Marxism–Leninism, whether contemporary or historical. It is commonly used by anti-authoritarian leftists, including anarchists, libertarian socialists, left communists, democratic socialists, and reformists to criticise Leninism, although the term has seen increasing use by liberals and right‐wing factions as well.[5][6]

The term "tankie" was originally used by dissident Marxist–Leninists to describe members of the Communist Party of Great Britain (CPGB) who followed the party line of the Communist Party of the Soviet Union (CPSU). Specifically, it was used to distinguish party members who spoke out in defense of the Soviet use of tanks to crush the Hungarian Revolution of 1956 and the 1968 Prague Spring uprising, or who more broadly adhered to pro-Soviet positions.[7][8]

By extension, the term is used to describe people who endorse, defend, or deny the crimes committed by communist leaders such as Vladimir Lenin,[9][10] Joseph Stalin, Mao Zedong, Enver Hoxha, Pol Pot, and Kim Il Sung. In modern times, the term is used across the political spectrum to describe those who have a bias in favor of illiberal or authoritarian states with a socialist legacy or a nominally left-wing government, such as the Republic of Belarus, People's Republic of China, the Democratic People's Republic of Korea, the Russian Federation, the Syrian Arab Republic, and the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela. Additionally, tankies are said to have a tendency to support non-socialist states with no socialist legacy if they are opposed to the United States and the Western world in general, regardless of their ideology,[4][11] such as the Islamic Republic of Iran.

Tankie is an old term that has been used in modern times to describe socialists in the west who oppose capitalism and are generally pro Russia when it comes to Ukraine.
