It is? I had no idea inflation was fixed alrready. You also have no problem with cooking the books month to month? I bet you a diet coke that the October numbers will be downgraded even more by next month.

I mean, it's not like there is going to be deflation to bring prices back to 2019 levels.

I get that and there a few huge companies striking like Boeing add that the two hurricanes it skews the number. To say inflation is under control with interests rates still high and buying/renting costing more today than 4 years ago I think we have a ways to go.

Deflation would be worse. Wages have outpaced inflation.

No, but first time home buyers are still shut out of the market. They are also forced to pay way more in rent, not just young folks but everybody. Payroll increases have not come close to keeping up with cost of living.

They have in the aggregate, actually, but I haven't dived in to look at the caveats. Only saw the top level headlines.

There are revisions every month because we use an antiquated system to gather the data.  The BLS needs to determine a more modern and accurate system to collect the data.

It’s one thing if the numbers are off by a small amount.  August was reported as a robust 159,000 jobs gained and today was revised down to only 78,000.   That’s a 50% miss.   That’s too big an error on a piece of data that has so much of an impact on the markets.

Quick google check.

In August 2024, wages grew by 4.6% while inflation was 2.5%. However, median real wages, which are wages adjusted for inflation, have only grown by 0.8% over the past year

Once again which party is very opposed to raising minimum wages? Which government agency is in charge of controlling prices

Are you opposed to the free market

When is that Cancer infecting our hometown, Oblong?     I frequently shop at Westborn Market (the corn salad is great!).   I want to avoid going anywhere near that walking bag of puss.

It was this afternoon.... Monroe was closed.  Not sure if he's done yet.

We go to Westborn all the time.... was sad to hear the beer guy passed away.  He used to be at Merchant's.  My wife goes every Sunday and picks out a mixture of things and he helped her do that.

So this will be over by the time I get home after 6.   Good.   And I agree with you about that restaurant.  Overpriced.   I didn't know about the homophobic crap.

Inflation will never be fixed.  Prices will always go up over time and they probably go up more than they tell us regardless of who the President is.  However, the Covid related Inflation spike is in the past and it's been relatively stable for several months now.

The fact that Trump's campaign, at least based on their paid media, seems to be closing on trans sex changes for prisoners seems to suggest that the issue has lost its political potency. At the very least

People ask why Trump is making this race even close are also shruggin off the economy as a factor.

This race is close because we are a deeply polarized country with a candidate who has been on the ballot three times.

And with respect to the economy, even as polling shows a tight race, Harris in a lot of the most recent polling has wiped out his advantage on the issue. In part because Trump seems to shrug off campaigning or driving a message on that issue, instead focusing on sex changes for prisoners on TV and personal retribution in campaign events.

If he loses, that's going to be a factor IMO

Yep. Foodies will appreciate it.  But give me a good old fashioned Bob Evans breakfast anytime.  Sorry to everyone else for the diversion to talk about things local but if you like bagels go to Brazen Bagels.  They are in the diner at Village Ford, inside the Parts and Service building.  They started out at the hamburger place that opened near us in the old bar.  They are great people, a young couple.  I go every Friday morning.  HOwever they are only open from 7:30 to just after lunch time.  If you get there before 8 you have to call them to open the door as there's always a line of people to get into Village's service dept.

I’d love to be able to affirm that notion, but I really dislike visiting ANY public bathroom and attempt to hold it til I get home….(which has become a lot harder to do as I age. 😳)
