The Republicans want to cut your Social Security and Medicare seems a very effective argument for Democrats. Quote

One of the largest balancing acts for Biden in this campaign is hitting on the freedom side of his message while still speaking to middle class economics (which he did a pretty good job of in his SOTU, imo). Gifts like this from Trump will help a lot.... but even aside from that takeaway, it's striking how Trump seems even less coherent than in the past, which is saying something. A whole lot of words that make absolutely no sense when you read them aloud. 1 Quote

I'm convinced in addition to cognitive decline, that Trump is not surrounded by the same people as in 2016 and it's showing. He had some competent campaign people in 2016. They have been purged for sycophants and it shows. It was always about himself, but he could stay on message and offer simple solutions to the rubes like a wall. Now he just rants about how he's being treated so unfairly. He's also attacking people he needs like Haley supporters. In 2016 he at least attempted to even persuade Sanders supporters. It's almost like he radicalized himself. Quote

A lot of this evolution starts from the basic fact that he has never acknowledged that he lost in 2020.... why would the messaging change if you're convinced that you actually won and it was all stolen from you? Why would you think you need Haley voters if you're busy convincing yourself that all of those voters are "all Democrats"? Quote
chasfh Posted March 11, 2024 Posted March 11, 2024 Hard to see how Trump can win once he has expelled all the RINOs from the party. Quote

The Ronz Posted March 11, 2024 Posted March 11, 2024 Trump’s niece Mary Trump who has a PhD in Clinical Psychology has always maintained that he has an “undiagnosed learning disability.” Trump’s sister, also named Mary Trump, said “he doesn’t read.” She didn’t say he couldn’t read just that he doesn't. Unlike someone else who is always mentioned as having “dementia” Trump may actually have untreated cognitive issue. Quote
chasfh Posted March 11, 2024 Posted March 11, 2024 “Learning disability” was the catch-all phrase they used to apply to kids 50 or 60 years ago when they wanted to justify pulling us out of regular school and putting us on the short bus to special ed. Quote
CMRivdogs Posted March 11, 2024 Posted March 11, 2024 It was also an era when incorrigible young males were sent to military schools if the parents could afford it. Fork Union was a popular place in our juristiction. Quote
oblong Posted March 11, 2024 Posted March 11, 2024 I'd say he's probably dyslexic but is too macho/embarassed to say so and deal with it and instead operates under the belief reading is beneath him, he'll just do the big things and leave the details to others. Quote
The Ronz Posted March 11, 2024 Posted March 11, 2024 Children that were considered "handicapped" in any manner - not that they actually were - were denied the right to attend public school until 1975. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Education_for_All_Handicapped_Children_Act Quote

romad1 Posted March 11, 2024 Posted March 11, 2024 I'm really curious which thread the Chubb underwriting the E.Jean Carroll bond should go in. Is this a Vladdi thread thing? is this a new thread for specific Trump kleptocracy "How Krooked is Now?" (riffing off the Smith's song "how soon is now") Quote

mtutiger Posted March 11, 2024 Posted March 11, 2024 (edited) In terms of Trump's capacity, the thing that has always been striking to me isn't his intelligence, it's his complete and total lack of empathy. He's clearly older and more forgetful now (and, who knows, may have some issues that we don't know about), but even when he was younger, the guy has always just come across like a deeply sociopathic and broken individual.
