So it’s a regular occurrence for this specialist to see people at the White House that are apparently above POTUS’ pay grade? I don't know where you are going with this. MB has already given you the black and white chapter and verse. Presidents *always* go to Walter Reed for an annual - it's pretty much tradition over decades if nothing else (well maybe all except Trump who didn't want his being subject to any official view) https://www.audacy.com/connectingvets/articles/walter-reed-why-do-presidents-go-to-a-military-hospital Edited July 11, 2024 by gehringer_2 2 Quote
oblong Posted July 11, 2024 Posted July 11, 2024 This whole thing is a perfect example of what is wrong with democrats. They don’t play the same game as republicans and that’s why they lose as often as they do. Maybe in normal circumstances this skepticism is warranted. Like any election before 2016. If something doesn’t look right then take the high road. But republicans would never dream of that. If this were trump they would be rallying and lying while doing if because winning is the only result. Quote
Tigermojo Posted July 11, 2024 Posted July 11, 2024 Biden should call his dissenters names and insult their wives. Quote

All they have to do is say I fully support Biden and we will defeat Trump. If they have issues with Biden, take it up privately. When that inevitably leaks, deny it and reiterate your full support for Biden. You do that as long as Biden is the nominee. It's not hard. Quote

She did not call on Biden to step aside on Morning Joe today. However, her comments aren't exactly a ringing endorsement for him to stay in either. See, now that's how the reporter could have checkmated Nancy. Nancy: He needs to make his decision soon. Reporter: He already has. He's running. Do you support him? Nancy: ... Quote

Motown Bombers Posted July 11, 2024 Posted July 11, 2024 All the Democratic governors, the ones they like so much like Newsom, Whitmer and Shapiro, are all behind Biden. It's all the white Democrats in the Washington media bubble that are calling for Biden to step aside. Quote

What confidence is there that Dems would fight back on whatever oppo they have on Newsom or Whitmer? It would start with the ability to take matters into their own hands and fight back against the relentless attacks... It all starts at the top. And given how the past two weeks have gone, I cannot say that I have a ton of confidence in Biden in being able to fight back against those questions going forward. I cannot stand the Pod Bros, and yeah, they've always been on the other side of the divide within the D Party of Biden. The journalists have shat the bed too, no doubt... But one can compartmentalize those thoughts and recognize that Biden has serious flaws as a candidate. And has, to-date, not shown the kind of energy needed to push back against the biggest strike on his record (his age). You will probably disagree with me, but that's why we are here today... The inability to put the fire out within days of it breaking out. It has now emphasized a liability that, given how time works, Biden will never be able to outrun so long as he is in this race. And if the candidate himself cannot fight back against those attacks, it's an even harder ask for everyone below him to do it. Edited July 11, 2024 by mtutiger Quote

Mr.TaterSalad Posted July 11, 2024 Posted July 11, 2024 Wasserman has gotten a lot of attention and praise around here in the past. Cook is shifting all of its swing state projections towards Trump. Quote
Mr.TaterSalad Posted July 11, 2024 Posted July 11, 2024 (edited) I have a question about Trump's support. We know from 2016 to 2020 that Trump drove his turnout and Republican turnout up overall. He got more votes in 2020 than 2016. What type or demographic of voters is Trump losing from his 2020 coalition and how many of them will he really lose in the end? Are there really a significant number of voters that voted for him in 2020, but won't do it again? Enough that it could push swing states on the margins towards Joe Biden? romad1 Posted July 11, 2024 Posted July 11, 2024 Listening to Jaime Harrison on Morning Joe...he is making a shouty defense of Biden but I'm not convinced that he believes what he is saying. Quote

Dems being bedwetters is a feature not a bug. I'd rather they not be monomatic about their dear leader. Like say those who clamor for an autocracy run by a literal diaper wearing would-be-dictator.
