Without some kind of reform of US libel law to give people recourse against internet amplified public calumny like this the republic is doomed. What makes it worse now is that he's now 78 years old... It only gets worse from here Quote

Motown Bombers Posted October 2, 2024 Posted October 2, 2024 Is Vance really saying not to trust experts? Quote

mtutiger Posted October 2, 2024 Posted October 2, 2024 (edited) JD was conceived in a lab to appeal to DC pundits, so he's getting plaudits there. My issue is that he comes across too shifty, kinda like Ellis in Die Hard. Edited October 2, 2024 by mtutiger Quote
pfife Posted October 2, 2024 Author Posted October 2, 2024 Walz is much stronger on domestic issues. Vance creates ways to blame everything on Vice President Harris. Quote

I do feel Walz is agreeing to much with Vance. I thought he had a missed opportunity on gun safety reforms to hammer home the difference. Walz's best answer has been on healthcare. Quote
Motown Bombers Posted October 2, 2024 Posted October 2, 2024 This is like the 2020 VP debate. Vance can complete sentences and stay disciplined. Quote
mtutiger Posted October 2, 2024 Posted October 2, 2024 The Jan 6th response from JD was awful... Quote

mtutiger Posted October 2, 2024 Posted October 2, 2024 The Mike Pence line was just brutal... Brutal. I wish it wasn't hidden in the back of the proceedings, but these debates are about viral moments and that was a good one 1 Quote

Motown Bombers Posted October 2, 2024 Posted October 2, 2024 I don't believe there are undecided voters. They just want attention. Quote
chasfh Posted October 2, 2024 Posted October 2, 2024 I do think with the surprising civility here, Vance helped himself tonight, if not helped Trump. He might be angling for 2028. He’ll lose the red hats if he does. Quote

The resemblance to the type is just uncanny when you notice it.... and we know all those types. Again, I think the pundits are going to give JD flowers tonight, and understand why... after all, these are the folks who couldn't see the forest through the trees in the John Fetterman-Dr. Oz debate! But objectively, there's a grain of inauthenticity that he gives off. It's a lot of the stuff that JD's supporters accuse Kamala Harris of, even (it makes sense that they are both lawyers by trade). Voters tend to like authenticity more, so it's possible that it looks more like a draw to viewers. Ultimately the debate won't matter much if at all though.... and he didn't look great in some of the bigger inflection moments of the debate (mike cut-off, January 6th) Edited October 2, 2024 by mtutiger Quote
