Right. Without the groundwork laid by Bush, and also by Gingrich and daddy and Reagan before him—not to mention Limbaugh throughout—we don’t get Trump at this moment.

This is true, and I'd be lying if I said I was completely at ease during those times. Honestly, I first thought of moving to another country in the 80s, but stayed because all of my family was/is here. I regret not going-if for no other reason than that I'm unlikely to get a chance to even travel now.

I feel as if every year we're faced with rotting infrastructure, cuts to already struggling transit, never-ending increases in housing, healthcare, and education costs... not to mention cuts to education that causes already struggling parents and often teachers to buy basic supplies every year. And this is in Massachusetts, which is considered true-blue.

Lack of pensions, having to save up for healthcare and retirement starting in your 20s, these are just two of the costs that eat into people's paychecks. And while the gains we made in past decades to get cleaner air and water are holding for now, protections that were in place are in danger if not already gone and we're in danger of going back to earlier pollution levels.

Trickle-down economics took decades to get us here, and it's going to take time to reverse it. Sigh....

Trickle-ON economics is more like it.

This was all predicted.

The thing that just irritates me is there is a small group of very powerful people getting us to fight with each other over whether a guy can wear a dress or abortions while they keep passing laws that cripple everyone but them.   How much is enough for these mother****ers?

If we can only get people to pay attention to what they are doing, we, as a people, would be unstoppable.   But no, we're fighting over immigration.    By the way - we need these immigrants to beef up production, distribution and construction to lead us out of this mess.   We should be carving out a path to citizenship and getting them paying taxes in the process (something that liberal Ronald Reagan proposed).

People don't realize how many of their own families came here illegally.  I am certain mine did, but over 100 years ago where forging papers was somewhat easy.

It's the Chuck Schmidts and Dave Brandons of the world that piss me off.  Get bonuses for destroying things.  Funny, but Toys R Us in Canada is thriving these days.   Dave had nothing to do with them.    I thought bonuses were for performance.  If they're automatic, then they are just salaries.   The financial "titans" that put us into a deep recession in 2008 got bonuses here in the U.S.    In Iceland they threw them in jail.

The biggest way to fix this is changing the ridiculous setup for the Senate.  Wyoming with half a million people should not have the same representation as California with 40 million.    Washington D.C. with nearly 700,000 people has no representation in the Senate.  Wyoming has 2.     **** that, lets get real.  California, New York, Texas, Florida should all have at least 4 and Wyoming, the Dakotas and Delaware should have 1.     DC should have 1 Senator and Puerto Rico should have maybe 1 senator who's vote counts for half a vote.  If they have to follow our laws or be a part of the U.S. the deserve some kind of representation.    Could you imagine trying to get Hawaii and Alaska statehood these days?

Was just at Toys R Us in Windsor.  It is thriving.

I’ll be interested in seeing where Cheney ends up after the election. Opposing Trump’s actions and speaking out were things I could support. She has now morphed into a shill for Harris and the DNC. How does supporting Harris’ agenda move conservatism forward, if in fact she was a true conservative at the outset of her political career? She voted as one. I know she pissed all the MAGA’s off, fine. There are moderate conservatives out here that are looking for leadership going forward that has nothing to do with MAGA. Again, I’d be interested in seeing where, or who she is, a year out.

Given she was smoked in her last election attempt, and her acting career as Jan 6th chair is over, what will she do? Good question, but easy answer. Since Harris has said she is open to people from the GOP in her cabinet, Lizzy the warmongering spawn of her warmongering dad, is in line to be Kamala's Secretary of War Department under the current warmongering democrat administration.

Think how happy the Lincoln Project guys, Billy Kristol, the Vindmans, the 200 spooks, and of course all the other war mongers and war toy makers will be. Cha-ching!!!!

I can't disagree with anything you say.

When Dems protested the Iraq war they were called anti American scum who hated freedom by the GOP. Looks like the Dems were just ahead of the curve by 2 decades. I’m sure the current GOP will catch up in another 20 years.

And yes, it's the made up culture wars that cause so many problems.... think the myth of the feminazi and/or stories of children having gender changing surgery in their schools. It's not hard to find people online who think the Democrats want to exterminate white, heterosexual males or ban cows.

As for immigrants... many of us who are now considered 'real' Americans were once part of a group that was marginalized. I'm of Irish and Scandinavian descent, and both of these were definitely considered lower than the more established groups.

It's also amazing how the US is involved in no wars and somehow the current administration are warmongers.

That’s kind of my take as well. She’s publicly canvassing for a gig in Harris’ administration.

I think it’s a stretch to say we’re involved in no wars although I get your point. We are funding Israel and Ukraine and supplying weapons to both. We do, or did, actually have personnel in Israel training IDF personnel on the anti-missle defense system we deployed there.

In today’s chaotic landscape, I wouldn’t call that warmongering. I think that’s going too far, particularly from a diplomatic angle.

If the US abandons allies like Ukraine, what's stopping China from invading Taiwan? Or any other adversary attacking an ally. The Ukraine and Gaza wars would still be happening and possibly other without US intervention.

Yeah you wouldn't want to throw your vote away on someone who has principles and makes a stand for democracy.

I’d be more than willing to vote for a principled person that is qualified to lead this country going forward. Unfortunately, myself and millions of other Americans don’t have that option this time around.
