Do you deal the FEMA story is made up? I know you see things pretty black and white and really respect your opinion.

It could be made up or it could be one rogue FEMA person being an asshole. If it's the latter, they will soon be unemployed.  I don't believe for a minute that the agency is systematically avoiding helping Trump supporters.

Oh good grief. OF COURSE it is wrong for a FEMA worker to avoid helping people based on their politics. Do I think FEMA did this? No.

That said, unless his supporters publicly demand that Drumpf stop saying that he's going to punish his opponents, and withhold aid from states that 'do not obey him,' and then follow up by demanding aid if and when a disaster happens in a 'disobedient' state, then I won't take their outrage seriously.

I like Bluesky and have found a decent number of folks i followed on twitter.   Its been good enough to keep me off twitter a good number of months now.   Good luck, i struggled with several twitter replacements

ETA I would say it's not really great for sports but is getting better but its pretty good for politicks.

She, the supervisor has already been fired so that leads me to believe the story is true.  I do really hope that this was an isolated incident.

It’s called damage control. Amazing, someone does actual journalism and the room sticks its head further down a hole. Hoping better journalism can be found elsewhere.

No, it's called the truth. Something MAGA is apparently allergic to. Calling CNN right-wing because they report something is just wrong. FEMA didn't conspire to stop helping hurricane victims, sorry to burst your conspiracy bubble.

You voted for it to be policy though.  Seems disingenuous

I wasn’t calling CNN RW. I posted the link last night and was laughed at. So I posted the CNN link confirming that the story was factual. You guys respect CNN so I thought. It would have been nice if FEMA would have internally released a statement leading up to this. As reported, multiple FEMA folks were aware this was happening.

FEMA didn't order anyone to deny services. An individual who works for them did, but you want to blame the entire agency? If a mailman shoots his wife, would you say the U S. Postal service killed her? Bending facts to distort the truth is called....fake news. And we never had fake news until we had a fake president. I guess we'll just have to wait until we figure out how Trump and his minions stole the election.

CNN hosted the first debate and decided the best thing to do was not fact check.   And announce in advance they would not.

Hilarious that a RW poster expects everyone to venerate CNN after 8 years of RW trashing of CNN.

Which is just more hypocrisy

And did anyone notice that the MAGA base isn't calling the election rigged? That makes me think the election was......rigged.

These threads are replete with examples of the media not reporting what trump actually said

And to expand that...Trump made all sorts of campaign promises to get himself elected and out of legal hot water. How many of these promises do people think he'll keep? No tax on Social Security? Sure, if you stop paying people Social Security. And no tax on tips? Car loans tax deductible? Only if you itemize, most people no longer can. Oh, and no more school mandated immunizations? He's going to cause a new, and even worse, pandemic. It's only a matter of time before the whole world puts a travel ban on those "crazy Americans."

From the secession convention to the end of the war North Carolina had three different governors. History is very interesting. Years ago I stumbled into a history class on the Civil War. It more than piqued my interest in history, particularly in North Carolina. Through years of family research I discovered that numerous ancestors of mine fought for NC in the war and several for the Union.

So to answer your question, yes, the three NC Governors through that period were our governors. Just like Trump is your president. 😉

That was a nice little joke which actually dovetails into a serious point.

In my view, strictly speaking, I don't regard him as my president. He's the political president of the country I live in. I don't believe there is any expectation of allegiance or obligation I have to the man himself. (Or do you believe there is? That's a different discussion.)

Now, maybe he's your president because you like him, claim him, have allegiance to him, and maybe even feel obligated to carry out whatever demands of his you hear in your head. 😉 And that's fine, you're free to claim him as your president in that case. But I don't think just because I live here, I have to express allegiance to him, carry out obligations on his personal behalf, or claim him as my president, any more than you have to claim Joe Biden as your president. You have the freedom not to, a freedom I sincerely hope we don't lose.

These may all be distinctions without a difference to you, but they aren't to me.

The idea that this federal government conspired to withhold aid from people for political purposes is demonstrably true, of course, but the ore important takeaway is that this tale will serve as justification for when the Trump government actually does withhold aid from various places because they are disloyal to him, or insufficiently loyal to him, or voted fro Kamala in this election. It will happen, because he already tried to make it happen in the past, and he’s already said he will do it in the future.

Man, I super-botched this first-thing-in-the-morning-cobwebs-still-in-the-head post.

I meant to say that the idea that this federal government conspired to withhold aid from people for political purposes is demonstrably untrue. Just in case anyone cares to hang me for the morning cobwebs in my head.

Was our President, and might be again, but not for a couple months. Between obesity, a fatwa, and cognitive decline, that still isn't a guarantee.

Obviously if Ttump actually dies he can't preside, but I'm not sure any level of cognitive decline would lead to his removal, because no way could that be sold to his voters. After all, these people did not vote for J.D. Vance, or the Republican Party writ large—they voted for Jonald J. Ttump, period. So any effort to remove him from office had better be accompanied by a casket, because otherwise there will be hell to pay.

He could decline enough to make late-life King George III look downright lucid and I still don't think he's going anywhere. The power of everyone around him is tied explicitly to Ttump himself. If he ordered a nuke dropped on Chicago his people might actually get checkmated trying to figure out how to get out of such a pickle.

I didn’t even notice.  I thought it was another one of your extreme left rants. 😂
