Mr.TaterSalad Posted November 14, 2024 Posted November 14, 2024 Trump tried withholding all aid after the California wildfires because he hated the Governor and the state didn't vote for him. smr-nj Posted November 15, 2024 Posted November 15, 2024 I can’t be the only one thinking that all of these Trump Cabinet announcements (and that’s all they are at this point, …announcements) are done for no more than his own amusement, and to get satisfaction from the outrage he sees from people either on his enemies list, or those in his own party who haven’t kissed the ring yet. I think he probably may suspect that they won’t all get approved, and he can use any SmackDowns that come against him as ammunition going forward. The man exists on grievances and reactions to his outrageousness. he wants to just keep people fighting, and so far only two weeks in, he’s getting his rocks off. 1 Quote

I don't know, he's been pushing for adjournment appointments. Basically, the Senate adjourns and he names them without hearings. He wants to make them "acting Secretaries with no oversite" Since the Trumpublicans control both houses of Congress, he may get his own way. Quote

On maybe a smaller basis, but why wouldn’t he try for that. If he’s allowed to get away with that, how else can you look at this man and not think “authoritarian”. Quote

mtutiger Posted November 15, 2024 Posted November 15, 2024 The stance on vaccines, understandably, gets all the attention with RFK Jr. But with respect to his views on food and agriculture, theres something darkly humorous about a President who won election due to inflation backlash giving such a prominent role to a person whose ideas, if taken to their logical end, would cause significant increases in the price of food His stance on seed oils is a good example... I actually agree with some of anti-vax HHS Director RFK Jr.'s views on what we allow to be put into are food as addatives and preservatives. I also agree that we're also feeding our kids utter processed crap and need to be encouraging healthier alternatives, more fresh organic fruits and vegetables. But where he completely loses me is on his nutcase medical views, and on not just vaccines. He's also either an outright aids denier or an aids-adjacent denier as well. He's made bogus and irresponsible claims before that aids is not caused by HIV but is a lifestyle disease. “I see somebody on a hiking trail carrying a little baby and I say to him, better not get them vaccinated.”- Robert F. Mr.TaterSalad Posted November 15, 2024 Posted November 15, 2024 This is the person that Donald Trump thinks should be the pick for Attorney General of the United States. He hires only the best people and only the biggest perverts. But remember folks, this is what our fellow Americans voted for. Quote

It's certainly easy to recognize in the abstract. But I don't think the public understands how inflationary some of his beliefs would be in practice, and this again comes off an election that more than anything else was decided on... Inflation. It's a running theme with all of his picks so far... To the extent that he has a "mandate", it's on the prices of goods. And when you look at the picks he's made that touch on the price of goods (Lighthizer, Kennedy Jr.), neither of these guys have prescriptions that would reduce the price of anything Quote
Tigeraholic1 Posted November 15, 2024 Posted November 15, 2024 Listening to NPR on the way in this morning. Interview with Senator Chris Murphy stating that woke is broke lol. Quote

The dead woke part. "We claim to be the party that represents working people, poor people," he told NPR's Morning Edition. "And yet, as you saw in this election, they are moving to the Republicans in droves. I think that is in part because we aren't listening to what is really driving people's emotional center right now." Not a trickle but droves....... Quote
