Probably not the right place for this, but Duggan says he's running for governor but as an independent. Christ almighty why are Democrats so eager to help Republicans? No Republican is going to vote for Duggan, and Duggan will pull enough votes from Detroit to sink Benson or another Democrat. I bet Republican donors are lining up to support Duggan.

And it's a big reason I hope we can save public transportation. We've already lost much of the bus network that used to go just about anywhere in the country (including to my brother's town, population app. 900). And I'm guessing public transportation has a gigantic bullseye all over it, even more than it did before.

It's easy to get around DC by public transit most of the time. Driving there from Williamsburg, Va is a big pain in the arse because of traffic on I-95. The last couple of trips (primarily spouse work related) we've used AMTRAK from Richmond. Parking is reasonable ($10 a day, compared to exorbitant DC rates) and a 2 1/2 train ride. Maybe $35 if you book business class.

Mine got on a running kick recently.  Some of them were trollish though.  Talking about pace just to get rage engagement.  But I have noticed now you can tweak the algorithm now.

BLM protests over George Floyd were the proximate reason for Bureau of Prisons and other assorted federal law enforcement standing on the Lincoln Memorial steps in full riot gear.   Its going to happen again.  People are going to cause a reaction.   Gonna be two-three years of chaos until the next pandemic or the War.

On the other thing: I do expect there to be mass protests in dozens of cities involving millions of people across the country in the first few days of that administration. Let's see whether Trump puts his money where his mouth is and sends his military in to mow them down.

If we're looking for some real outrage about rape—yeah, that's right, I put the "a" in it, call a cop if you don't like it—it's worth reminding people that there is sworn testimony on the record that Trump raped a 13-year-old girl.
