Note that they can’t play the infield in with runners on second and third and one out, with a one-run lead in the ninth. They have to risk ceding one run on an infield grounder to avoid giving up two on the outfield single.

masterclass managing from aj tonight.  all the bullpen moves worked.  pinch hitting tork worked.

larussa, otoh, bites it again.  pitched to tork with first base open and barnhart on deck.  pinch hit useless leury garcia late.

Per usual Soto makes it interesting but like his predecessors Todd Jones, Jose Valverde and Fernando Rodney he ultimately gets it done.

Until eventually they didn't. I thought for sure we were going to lose. It was probably....probable.

Listening to the radio on that final play, from the time it left the bat until it was scooped up and called out, I couldn't tell from Dan's call and the crowd's reaction how the play was going to end up.

Is 5 the Tigers' longest win streak of the season?

I believe it matches their longest, but could be wrong.

Edit: wrong, previous was 4 games (sweeping baltimore, winning against tb)
