Armored vehicle bridges are what you need if you are crossing rivers. if you are on the attack. That's to cross the Dnieper River to the east of Kherson City and to push the Russians all the way back to Crimea. Bottle them up there... and Ukraine could sweep from west to east and push Russians out of Zaphorizhzhia, Melitopol, and Mariupol... And then Russia would be back to where they started BEFORE the war began... It could get interesting over the next few months, depending on what Ukraine actually does in the way of counterattacks... We need to allow Ukraine to make this determination but, I can sense some US Government nervous nellies not brave enough to allow them to retake DNR and Crimea. Quote
romad1 Posted March 3, 2023 Posted March 3, 2023 Really the model for a militarily potent allied country in survival mode is Israel. They took the war to the proverbial road to Damascus but stopped short. Likewise, they didn't try to capture Cairo. Quote

The IDF in Cairo would truly be a case of the dog catching the UPS truck....🙃 We are all waiting to see if the optimistic take is correct and the Russians will have punched themselves out this spring to where they collapse under an anticipated Ukrainian counter offensive. If the Ukrainians do not have a strong upper hand be the end of summer....it won't be good. Quote

I think the US and NATO expects this Summer to go very well like the previous counter-attack but with more cowbell. 1 Quote
1984Echoes Posted March 3, 2023 Posted March 3, 2023 And more Tanks and Artillery and APC's etc... Those GMLR's range 90-ish miles so more range/ higher ability to destroy Russian supply lines & depots, bridges, Crimea, etc., etc... Quote

digitalpigsmuggler Posted March 7, 2023 Posted March 7, 2023 Non-American news sources are much more bleak when it comes to Ukraine. Quote There’s a notion floating around the Internet that the current conflict in Ukraine is going to remain a static war of attrition that will bleed the Russian army dry. So what if it decimates Ukraine’s society and eradicates most of its population? At least the dreaded Russian war machine will have been ground to a halt in the killing fields of Ukraine. Those believing this narrative are living in a fantasy. Fact is, the Ukrainian military is drained, the Western supply chains are strained, and the NATO stockpiles of critical weapons and ammunition are depleted. The war is transitioning, therefore, into a conflict in which the Russian side will enjoy several critical advantages. Thus far, the Ukrainians have been unable to dislodge the Russian forces in the area. Should Bakhmut be pacified, as it seems it is about to be, with the weakening Ukrainian defenders being pushed back farther from the east, the real concern in the West must be for the fate of the Dnieper. The Russians’ strategy of attrition is working and their ultimate goal is, at the very least, to hold on to the eastern Russian-speaking portions of Ukraine as well as Crimea in the south. https://asiatimes.com/2023/03/ukraine-is-going-to-lose/ Quote
