Putin may be worried he doesn't have much time. Weapons are beginning to pour into Ukraine. Germany announced 500(!) Stingers and 1000 anti-tanks units (TOW/Javelins?). The fact that the Russians can't fly high means you put 500 stingers in theater and you can make your own no fly zone.

Has there been a war yet where the *defending* side actually had the full benefit of 1st class Western miniaturization technology?

One caveat about the Russian soldiers stealing food.   They may just want to get better food.  We frequently would go "on the economy" when on exercises in Germany to get snacks, beer, cokes not supplied to us.

Ok, now that I've been looking for them.  This is the Ukrainian TB-2 UAV.  It bodes very well that they have these engaged.  The Russians are terrified of these.

As it turns out this isn't great because it will teach China to improve their PGM use when they go up against the US and Japanese navies when they try to take Taiwan.

An interesting hypothesis might be that China might be egging on Russia in order to see the mistakes they make and that China needs to avoid when they take on Taiwan.

If so Xi is as crazy as Putin. Then again, when you share a long border with a crazy man you probably don't mind seeing his armor cut up on the other side of the continent either.
