#1 comment from fellow vet looking at the Russian columns.  "These guy's battle drill is for shit. "  Bunch up at your peril, lads.

I'm feeling too optimistic to trust my feelings.   Put another way.  "The highs feel fucking cheap" to quote that song they used in the Michigan football video.  But still,

Meh, I'm not hoping to survive if it comes to nuclear holocaust. Survival post-nuke (at least, if it were all-out) would be worse than death.

Which is good, because I'm close enough to the Beltway that I shouldn't make it.

What about those of us within hailing distance of a certain shipyard that has a few government sub and carrier contracts?

The most sensible scenario to prepare for is the 3 days without power and water scenario.   That is one that is VERY likely to occur if you are in a hurricane area anyway.

I have no military experience at all and even I was saying "Why are they all so close together?"  Even if they weren't expecting drones, they certainly were expecting weapons fired from the shoulder, that would have been a turkey shoot too.

After President Joe Biden announced new sanctions intended to “degrade [Russia’s] aerospace industry, including their space program,” Dmitry Rogozin, the head of Russia’s space agency, Roscosmos, noted on Twitter just how vulnerable the station would be to a withdrawal of Russian support. He implicitly threatened to crash the orbiting research laboratory into the U.S., Europe, or a highly populated country in Asia, where a crash would take the most lives.

Huge if true

Gerasimov was the man who built the post soviet armed forces.  He is their doctrine guru.

Gerasimov/Milley was also an established back channel communication link. If he is gone that link is lost as well.

Not that it's in any way good, but the situation up there would be have been more critical before Space-X.
