That never gets old. Good ol Triple7. I would imagine that with some work, the archive of that thread could be resurrected.

On a personal note, I sort of know Scott Harris's dad. We were on the same team at Cubs camp in 2020 (just before COVID hit), which Scott had gifted him the prior Christmas. We had a couple of conversations at length and one morning at breakfast he showed me Scott's 2016 Cubs ring, which he'd brought to camp with him. Talk about super impressive. I just dropped him a mazel tov in the email. He's probably got hundreds of people doing the same with him, so who knows if I hear back. But whether he does or doesn't, he's a really good guy, and I'm really happy for him.

Got my reply from Scott's dad. We got a date once the ring is here.

I would hope he gets full autonomy to hire and fire anyone he wants in the front office, scouting staff, and coaching staff.

Didn't suggest he wouldn't...merely speculating on who might stay on

Chris Ilitch says Steve Yzerman participated in the process.

Also shouted out to Hinch, Garko, Sartori and Mezin.

I wish when they decided to hire him they got Brad Holmes to call him and say you ready to be a Lion to hear his reaction.

Dude... I immediately said "not personally".

But... I get the joke...

Who was doing that...? Was that 777?

Mike Stone asks about Miggy's contract.

Harris basically says it's a fair question but he needs to look at things and talk to Miggy and evaluate the system as a whole as right now it's "The Giants impression of the Tigers farm system"

I thought the press conference was encouraging. It sounds like we have a capable person running the show here. In particular I was pleased to hear him talking about building this franchises own identity and not trying to just copycat what someone else is doing.

Observations from the presser...

Illitch's statement on Harris being innovative and not chasing what others are doing seemed, umm... pointed.

Illitch also mentioned the people who helped. There are currently five VP's or AGM's on staff. Four were named. David Chadd wasn't.

Regarding Yzerman being named in the presser, going by Beck it sounds like him and Harris were acquaintances after meeting at Wrigley a few years back so perhaps Steve's role was to put in a good word about Chris/Ilitches and the city of Detroit and their fanbase in general.
