Hongbit Posted September 25, 2022 Posted September 25, 2022 Here’s a place to share our sacrifices to the monster. I couldn’t hit a parlay for my life yesterday. Hopefully today will be better. Dolphins +5.5 Commanders ML Colts +7 NYG -1 Panthers ML Irv Smith Any TD (+225) Skyy Moore Any TD (+600) Quote
Sports_Freak Posted September 25, 2022 Posted September 25, 2022 Watch out for Green Bay. Is Rodgers good enough to pass the ball and then run down the field and catch it? All of his receivers are hurt. Quote
buddha Posted September 25, 2022 Posted September 25, 2022 3 pick parlay: falcons +8.5, niners +7.5, jags +14. lions + 7 chiefs -6.5 ravens -2 bears/texans under 39 pack/bucs under 42 Quote
Mr.TaterSalad Posted September 26, 2022 Posted September 26, 2022 I bet the Lions on the moneyline for the win and Campbell cost me $350 today with bad coaching decision. Oh well! Quote

RedRamage Posted September 26, 2022 Posted September 26, 2022 For those of us who are gambling idiots, can you explain how a parlay works and what the advantages are vs. just "normal" bets? I have no intention of getting into gambling because I know that I'm a very weak willing soul with things like this and I would get addicted in no time at all. But I hear about parleys all the time and I'm just curious how it works. Quote

Even "good odds" bets are tough to get right with so many in a row. You can do any combination of parlays...ex Lions to win, Jets to cover, Goff throwing over 300 yards, Swift running for under 100 etc etc. Quote
Hongbit Posted September 26, 2022 Author Posted September 26, 2022 In many ways the parlay is a sucker bet. The odds are nice but it’s damn hard to put 3 or more winner’s together. Who am I kidding, even a 2 teamer isn’t easy. Commanders killed 2 parlays yesterday where I got the other 2 legs. Need NYG -1 tonight to avoid the same fate. Quote

But I hear about parleys all the time and I'm just curious how it works. i love teasers but most sites dont offer them. a teaser is a bet where you take two lines and get better odds for each, but both have to hit for you to win. a teaser adds 6.5 to the line. for example, last week at game time jacksonville was +3 and detroit was +6. you could "tease" both games and get jacksonville at +9.5 and detroit +12.5. both have to win for you to win the best. i bet on draft kings and they dont do teasers. instead, you can do an "alternative line" for each game. that allows you to bet at a different line and increase your odds of winning, but as you increase the line, your pay out goes way down. but if you bet three of those lines together, you can still get "ok" odds. on my parlay i took atlanta at +8.5, san fran at +7.5, and jax at +14. all three had to hit (and they did!). but i was only getting +125 on the bet so i didnt win that much. but i only bet $5 or $10 at a time. never lose very much but never win very much. And see here's where my issue would be... I'd bet $10, win $5 and think: "Man...if I'd have bet $100 I would have won $50!" and so next week I'd be tempted to bet a lot more. Self-control in areas like this are NOT my forte, so I do my best to not get started. 1 Quote
Cruzer1 Posted September 27, 2022 Posted September 27, 2022 I bet 1 dollar at a time, with 6+ legs at a time. Also, I play one each week with all games, call it my lottery ticket. Quote
Cruzer1 Posted September 27, 2022 Posted September 27, 2022 I have a 10 dollar freebet for Michigan to win the Natty aat +4000 Quote
Hongbit Posted September 29, 2022 Author Posted September 29, 2022 Someone smarter than I said go Bengals team total over 26.5 tonight. It feels a little degenerate but I’m on it. 1 Quote
Mr.TaterSalad Posted September 29, 2022 Posted September 29, 2022 No betting for me this week. I lost taking the Lions and the moneyline last week. I played a $100 on blackjack, won most of my money back, then decided to put it on Tom Brady and Tampa Bay mid-game to come back and beat Rogders and the Pack. Had they come back midgame and won I would have gotten a $1,200 payout. I'm staying off the sportsbooks this week. 1 Quote
Hongbit Posted September 30, 2022 Author Posted September 30, 2022 (edited) UCLA +3.5 SEC Dog Parlay (this is such a dumb play) - will end up betting them solo too because I enjoy pain. Kentucky +7/Arkansas +17.5/A&M +3.5 Illinois/Whisky under 43.5 leaning towards Michigan but waiting to see if I can get it at 9.5 NFL bets are all totals at this point Edited September 30, 2022 by Hongbit Quote
buddha Posted September 30, 2022 Posted September 30, 2022 i got stupid this week. tough nfl lines. 4 pick moneyline parlay: steelers, eagles, packers, chiefs. +400 so my stupidity will pay off handsomely if i win. i do not expect to win. giants - 2 1/2 texans +5 raiders - 2 1/2 3 pick parlay: jets +10, broncos +9, chiefs + 7.5: +136 college: um/iowa under 42 kansas +3 arkansas +17.5 maryland - 7.5 Quote
Hongbit Posted September 30, 2022 Author Posted September 30, 2022 That UM total looks so good that it scared me away. Looks like weather will have an impact on that MSU game. Wind and rain remnants from Ian. The total is dropping rapidly. I liked the over before and may still jump on closer to kickoff if it plummets down into the mid 50’s. Quote
RandyMarsh Posted September 30, 2022 Posted September 30, 2022 The long parlay is a sucker bet but it's fun to play just for the dream of the big pay day. Kinda like playing the lottery, yeah that 1 is going to be a waste but the dream of the off chance you win makes it worth it. Quote
RandyMarsh Posted September 30, 2022 Posted September 30, 2022 For CFB it's hard for me to bet anything but money lines. Too often you see either back door covers or teams emptying the benches early. Quote

I'm liking some of the NFL spreads tomorrow, I love the Texans getting 6 against the Chargers. I'm playing left tackle for the Chargers. Quote
