Shinzaki Posted March 3, 2023 Posted March 3, 2023 Bad move? Mantha hasn't been too good in DC. The 2021 1st was flipped to get Cossa...he's doing pretty well right now in his 1st pro season in Toledo and the 2022 2nd was Buchelnikov...looks like a prospect if he ever comes stateside. In any case...I think it's too early to say it's a bad deal as the assets we got back are still developing Quote

buddha Posted March 3, 2023 Posted March 3, 2023 yzerman is buddies with st louis's gm. is this just a payback for robbing the blues of walman and fabbri? Quote
1984Echoes Posted March 3, 2023 Posted March 3, 2023 I heard Sundqvist to the Wild for a pick but no details/ confirmation yet... Quote
slothfacekilla Posted March 3, 2023 Author Posted March 3, 2023 Apparently JVR is now NOT coming to Detroit?? Quote

Or maybe they 1st have to move Sundqvist...? If they bring him in... I think it's just for playoff-level leadership, not for his soon-to-be 34 y.o. skillset...? Quote
1984Echoes Posted March 3, 2023 Posted March 3, 2023 Sundqvist traded to the Wild for a 2023 4th... Quote
1984Echoes Posted March 3, 2023 Posted March 3, 2023 That pick's a little weak so... I think the important part of that deal will be what subsequent moves SY makes... with that pick or otherwise... Quote
slothfacekilla Posted March 3, 2023 Author Posted March 3, 2023 Guessing they weren't interested in re-signing Sundqvist but a fourth seems to be a pretty whatever lottery ticket Quote
1984Echoes Posted March 3, 2023 Posted March 3, 2023 PS: Probably shouldn't expect more than a 4th for Sundqvist... not what I meant... But that SY is trying to build a playoff-level team so that return is weaker than just holding onto him... dependent on some subsequent move SY is planning/ trying... Quote
gehringer_2 Posted March 3, 2023 Posted March 3, 2023 I would guess SY is collecting the later round picks just to trade them later, haven't we heard him say threre isn't much to find in the later rounds of the draft? Or maybe I'm misremembering. Quote
gehringer_2 Posted March 3, 2023 Posted March 3, 2023 (edited) Going to be some room for some call-ups. Edited March 3, 2023 by gehringer_2 1 Quote

In reference to your point... he has also said that a team can haver too many draft picks and needs to utilize them in different manners... So... he's used them in trades (obtained Husso for a pick), and in trade ups to target a player (Cossa). I think that this is what you are thinking of...? Quote

gehringer_2 Posted March 3, 2023 Posted March 3, 2023 I didn't think Oskar was particularly good but he did work hard. Moving 4 players seems like a lot - it is a lot but since Bertuzzi and Vrana hadn't played much they are pretty much only filling in for 2 the rest of the way - and Ras of course. Quote

Shinzaki Posted March 3, 2023 Posted March 3, 2023 Oskar was a RH shot...but so is Alex Chiasson who they apparently signed They also signed John Lethemon...the goalie who's doing so well at Toledo Quote
buddha Posted March 3, 2023 Posted March 3, 2023 yzerman is assembling a lot of picks. that islanders pick could end up being vancouver's unprotected first in 2024 and the bert pick could be the bruins unprotected first in 2025 if the bruins age results in them tanking next year. shrewd, imo. Quote

Motor City Sonics Posted March 3, 2023 Posted March 3, 2023 What happened to Jakub Vrana. He fell as quickly as Ned did. Quote
