antrat Posted June 5, 2022 Posted June 5, 2022 So I started playing a couple years ago and now have a guitar collection that far exceeds my talent. I prefer acoustic over electric. Though I have my eye on a Gibson SG. Divorce is surely in my future. 2 Quote

pfife Posted June 30, 2022 Posted June 30, 2022 GAAAAH I need someone to relate to! Last night one of my strap locks broke, picture knock-off schaller. However, it broke LOCKED ONTO MY GUITAR. The only way I was able to get the strap lock off the strap peg was to pry it with a screwdriver and of course b/c I'm me, I put some scratches in my 95 LP Standard finish. Mother f'ers 1 Quote

Mother f'ers Every scar is a story. I feel your pain but it's 17 years old; the positive spin is you don't have to be concerned about scratching it going forward. Now you can really beat it like you should. I think babying an electric guitar does it a disservice and you can have it serve it's true purpose. Quote
pfife Posted June 30, 2022 Posted June 30, 2022 *cough 27 years old* 😄 I hear yah, I don't usually baby my axes (although I do almost always put them back in their cases), I'm playing the crap out of my custom and it's discoloring to the desirable yellow very quickly. It just sucks when it happens for non-rock and roll purposes hahaha Quote

pfife Posted June 30, 2022 Posted June 30, 2022 I love doing that when in rehearsal I mess up on the counts or when we have discussions about how many times we should play a particular part Quote
Biff Mayhem Posted June 30, 2022 Author Posted June 30, 2022 So let's see a picture of the damage already.... Quote
pfife Posted June 30, 2022 Posted June 30, 2022 side note - I've got three LPs, and that 95 standard is SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO much heavier than the other two. They say that was a good wood era - twss Quote
Biff Mayhem Posted June 30, 2022 Author Posted June 30, 2022 That's amateur hour man. I'll have to post up some pics of my casualties. You'll be glad you only have that. Also quit buying knockoffs. https://reverb.com/item/320741-eight-rubber-guitar-strap-locks-multi-color-grolsch-style-classic-reliable 1 Quote

antrat Posted July 7, 2022 Posted July 7, 2022 Just got my first 12 string guitar yesterday. I am in love. What the hell was I waiting for? A very different experience indeed. 2 Quote

I've never played one and wasn't sure how I would like it so I went budget friendly. The damn thing sounds amazing. I also like that you have to play it a bit differently than six strings. Adds more interest for me. 2 Quote
