1984Echoes Posted November 18, 2022 Posted November 18, 2022 Is Chiarot slowing Seider down...? Or, put differently: When is it time to call up Edvinsson and pair him with Seider? It wouldn't bother me to drop Chiarot to the 3rd pairing... he's here as much for veteran leadership as anything else so... Maybe he can lead Lindstrom into playing better on the 3rd pairing... Quote
gehringer_2 Posted November 18, 2022 Posted November 18, 2022 all thee Wings forwards up ice from the puck on the Shark's entry on the 1st goal and they never did catch up, eventually leaving leBanc wide open. Quote
lordstanley Posted November 18, 2022 Author Posted November 18, 2022 I like the red jerseys the Wings wearing on this road trip. Quote
gehringer_2 Posted November 18, 2022 Posted November 18, 2022 (edited) Wings tie it at two. Perron deflection from a Larkin shot with second assist to Kubalek. Edited November 18, 2022 by gehringer_2 Quote
lordstanley Posted November 18, 2022 Author Posted November 18, 2022 The Wings have been all over the Sharks in the parts of the 2nd period that I've seen. Perron finally gets the tying goal. Quote
lordstanley Posted November 18, 2022 Author Posted November 18, 2022 (edited) Gotta be impressed by the effort of Rasmussen. Knocks it to Walman for the go-ahead goal. Very good 2nd period. Edited November 18, 2022 by lordstanley Quote
lordstanley Posted November 18, 2022 Author Posted November 18, 2022 Wings seemed to let up after that goal and were hanging on until the intermission. 3-2 Wings after 2. Quote
lordstanley Posted November 18, 2022 Author Posted November 18, 2022 Veleno! 4-2. I know the Sharks are bad, but nice to see the Wings consistently a step ahead of the other team. Quote
lordstanley Posted November 18, 2022 Author Posted November 18, 2022 And just like that it’s 4-4. Both quick ones after faceoffs. Not another 3rd period meltdown, eh? Quote
buddha Posted November 18, 2022 Posted November 18, 2022 seider redeems himself with a goal after playing another shitty game. Quote
lordstanley Posted November 18, 2022 Author Posted November 18, 2022 Seider off the schneid. Steps in and snaps it on the short side. 5-4 Wings. Quote
lordstanley Posted November 18, 2022 Author Posted November 18, 2022 That Wings goal seems like a blip. Sharks continue their surge. Quote
lordstanley Posted November 18, 2022 Author Posted November 18, 2022 (edited) Gift from the Sharks goalie. 6-4. Somehow the way the Wings have played the past 10 minutes I don’t feel this lead is 100% safe. Edited November 18, 2022 by lordstanley Quote
lordstanley Posted November 18, 2022 Author Posted November 18, 2022 How many faceoffs in a row have the Wings lost? Quote
lordstanley Posted November 18, 2022 Author Posted November 18, 2022 7-4 win brings the road trip record to 1-1-1. Shaky second half of the 3rd to say the least though. Quote

Hard to believe the team can't make some improvement their face-out performance, but it's been like this for a while now and doesn't seem to improve. Of course part of the problem is having only one true center. Quote
Shinzaki Posted November 18, 2022 Posted November 18, 2022 Luke Glendening is sorely missed...RH face off guy Quote

slothfacekilla Posted November 18, 2022 Posted November 18, 2022 Probably not a popular take here but I disagree. Faceoffs are overrated and Glendening has the worst possession/advanced statistics of the entire Dallas Stars roster and yet somehow has the 4th highest PDO so his overall numbers could get even worse. I would rather lose faceoffs and have a fourth line with Veleno's and Berggren's who can contribute in all zones theoretically. Winning a faceoff is nice but if you can't do anything with it afterwards then it really isn't much of an advantage in my opinion. I really dislike players who's game revolves around being stationary in the defensive zone and hoping the puck hits you, so I fully admit I have always underrated him compared to others. But in general I think having elite faceoff guys doesn't have as much of an effect on games compared to other areas. Thank you for coming to my Ted Talk. (But still his gum gif is too good to not have it as my pfp) Quote

He had once provided some speed and forechecking but those skills were going to be fading. Quote
lordstanley Posted November 20, 2022 Author Posted November 20, 2022 Beat Ohio. Make it a winning road trip. Larkin's PP goal gives the Wings a 1st period lead. Quote
lordstanley Posted November 20, 2022 Author Posted November 20, 2022 1-0 Wings after 1. Top line of Larkin-Perron-Kubalik. Quote
gehringer_2 Posted November 20, 2022 Posted November 20, 2022 Hronek with the Wings second tally. He definitely seems to be skating better this season. Quote
lordstanley Posted November 20, 2022 Author Posted November 20, 2022 Hronek opportunistically pounces on a loose bouncing puck and just blasts it from close in. Wings regain the lead, 2-1. Quote
