Smerconish, while he has a national TV and radio show, was born, raised, and still lives in PA.  He's a much bigger name in PA than he is in nationally.  Would have been a good platform for Oz.  That said, points out why the GOP is on track to no longer be a national party anymore.  You're not allowed to even try to expand the voter base out of fear of the oversized oompa loompa in Florida and his crew.

I still can't get over Mehmet's insistence on not being called Mehmet.  It's not the media's responsibility to go by your trade name or to just say "Dr. Oz".  They don't refer to Rand Paul all the time as "Dr. Paul".

He wants their help in reminding people that he's "That guy named Oz" and not just any other guy named Oz, especially a guy with a 'foreigner' name.  What kind of a patriotic American has a name that sounds like some Ay-Rab?  Bad enough they had to sit through Barack Hussein Obama.

True story, a HS friend of mine, after Obama was elected, complained that he was going to have to try to explain to his daughter than a guy named Barack Hussein Obama was elected President of these United States..... yes he has a southern accent too.

It looks like Oz may be trying to take a page out of the Youngkin playbook in Virginia. Play nice with the Trumpkin base in the primary then head toward the center.Youngkin had a bit of help from the state party who rigged the primary process against the die heart Trumpers.

I think Oz may find it more difficult in the general, if he does actually get the nomination.  Especially if Fetterman actually gets the Democratic nomination.

I think this has been a theory.  It seems a leap that people are trying to make with Psaki and the picture in question, but this thread gets derailed pretty easily at times, so I guess it makes sense in that way.

I may be in the minority here, but I don't know that Fetterman is all that great a candidate. Conor Lamb would be better.

IDK....Fetterman has been known not to play well with others. His style might sway some Obama/Trump voters. Lamb is probably a better choice. I spent my early youth between McKeesport and Irwin so the Butler connection has some affinity for  me.
