But what do I know. probably. But if it gets to a bipartisan deal, what will matter is not the person but the rules package that comes with him. But McHenry works well enough. mtutiger
Losing John James here seems like a really big deal, the Jordan people were making a huge deal out of courting him.
ewsieg
I think James just voted for Candice Miller.

mtutiger
MMM for Kay Granger, who unironically would be a pretty good Speaker.
gehringer_2
lost two more. Will the fact that he's going backward mean the conference decides to go another was without more votes? We can only hope.
ewsieg
Didn't he miss out on 20 GOP votes in the first vote? 22 this time.
gehringer_2
Jordan did turn 2 to his side, but lost 4 he had yesterday so the net is 2 more down.

I gotta believe that he'd probably lose a few more with another ballot if they went ahead and voted again.
oblong
Mike Lawler once again on CNN blaming Democrats for helping to create this mess. He did it 3 times in his interview. I didn't know it was their job to make sure a republican stays speaker.

I like how, a few days ago, Jordan and his allies were messaging that they needed to elect Jim Jordan to get back to the work of the American people. Yet, according to CNN just now, they are working to kill a resolution (empowering McHenry) that would actually accomplish that. It's almost like it's not about functioning government and more about giving Jordan power.
mtutiger
This was from yesterday but still applies... one thing this Congress has proven is that the GOP cannot count votes to save its life lol

Why do the dems have to join the R's?
