House just went into session on C-SPAN.  They just started a 15 minute vote on another matter and then I assume the fun begins.

You know, if they replaced the Capitol dome with big turbine spun by the rising hot air, they'd make a huge dent in the D.C.'s carbon generation. But since the GOP doesn't believe in climate change, another good idea is going to go to waste.

I see no-one has bought the clerk a new pencil since the 1st set of speaker votes - she's still using that stub.

Why do they still do roll call votes at all?  There is a huge video screen on the wall that shows how everyone voted, it's not like you need the roll call vote to be sure votes are recorded correctly.

There's probably 20 cases of bowling pencils that were bought in the 1920's sitting in the supply closet needing to be used up before they can buy something else.

Maybe people want cover. If you did it quickly and all at once then you can’t see the trend and vote with the wind.

I wonder if Gaetz actually thought McCarthy would swing a deal with the Dems to keep the Speakership which would have allowed Gaetz to just keep agitating, basically cost free. Hard to see with McCarthy out how the radical wing does not end up dis-empowered. Do they think they can come with a guy that will cede them even more than McCarthy did?
