gehringer_2 Posted October 19, 2023 Posted October 19, 2023 (edited) I would guess with Jordan's chances of winning the Chair directly evaporating, the Nihilism caucus has realized that it McHenry gets a bipartisan mandate they lose their leverage, so now they need to get out ahead of it - give him the gavel with just GOP votes and nothing will have changed, their leverage remains intact. Of course they may find McHenry to be a less feckless foil than McCarthy was -- maybe. In fact McHeny's power might inhere exactly in the fact he may not care if he loses the job - and thus be less willing to kowtow to keep it. Edited October 19, 2023 by gehringer_2 Quote
CMRivdogs Posted October 19, 2023 Posted October 19, 2023 (edited) Just proving once again that Jordan, Trump and most of the party is nothing but hot air. Edited October 19, 2023 by CMRivdogs 1 Quote

McCarthy, by contrast, was capable but part of his undoing (and why the Dems didn't save him) is because he breached trust too many times. Edited October 19, 2023 by mtutiger Quote

It reminds me a bit about the story Howard Stern told about one of his first jobs. He was a horrible jock then. Management made him program director because he showed up on time every day. Not exactly great credentials for a management position. What was Jordan's pre political history? Assistant wrestling coach? Once again not exactly major leadership material Quote
RatkoVarda Posted October 19, 2023 Posted October 19, 2023 this week, the House has been in session 6 minutes Monday to recite Pledge of Allegiance, and for about 2 hours each on Tuesday and Wednesday; they are supposed to gavel in at noon, but I think they are not going to do anything other than recite POA. This is exactly what MAGA wants the government to do - nothing. Quote
Tigerbomb13 Posted October 19, 2023 Posted October 19, 2023 Oh, MAGA. So much losing. So much. Losing. Quote
smr-nj Posted October 19, 2023 Posted October 19, 2023 Things I’m reading seem to indicate McHenry doesn’t really want this job long term. I suppose he’ll accept the gavel, but won’t exactly be happy about it. Quote

CMRivdogs Posted October 19, 2023 Posted October 19, 2023 Which is why Washington despised political parties. Damn you Jefferson, Madison and Adams. Hamilton as well Quote

gehringer_2 Posted October 19, 2023 Posted October 19, 2023 (edited) LOLOLOL Deal for McHenry is apparently dead in the GOP caucus and Jordan is going to go for another vote. Edited October 19, 2023 by gehringer_2 Quote
gehringer_2 Posted October 19, 2023 Posted October 19, 2023 Near as I can read this, the radicals don't want McHenry, they want Jordan. Hopefully they are pushing the 'moderates', OK, correct that, there may no 'moderates', lets just call them the 'sane' caucus, closer to the embrace of Mr Jeffries. Quote
romad1 Posted October 19, 2023 Posted October 19, 2023 Sounds like Jordan wants more time to bully and intimidate the holdouts. 1 Quote
