i think it was a gamble like ras's was a gamble.  they probably assumed he would get better this year and his bad puck luck would even out a bit.  playing with vrana potentially might help.

best laid plans of mice and men and all that.

its possible that he breaks out eventually, he's still young.  but i havent seen anything that indicates he has it in him, and now he's hurt all the time.  ras had a 20 game stretch where he really started to play well the year before he signed his deal, zadina has never had that type of stretch.

I think I saw that Lalonde said they'd see how Husso did on the front end of the btb and he may even go Husso for game 2.  Hellberg did nicely down in GR I wouldn't mind seeing him get a start.

Goalies are definitely odd ducks. Really didn't see Ned collapsing like he has this season.

that collapse started in the middle of last year.

He was doing fine (not spectacular but decent enough) before that...

No clue what's up with Ned I'm guessing at this point it is something mental since he just randomly gives up awful goals.  I don't think they've had their first kid yet either because at first I was wondering if he wasn't getting enough sleep.

I still have it in my head that he's a good goalie so I guess I would go with some mental block as well...

Wings trail Carolina after 1. Generated absolutely nothing in the 1st period. Better in the 2nd, but need to be much better on the PP.

Extended highlights for this one will be about a minute long. Wings will need to come up big in next game to stop a mini-slump or more from developing.

Hellberg gets the start tonight

Reaves absolutely lit Hronek up with an awful apparently "legal" hit though I thought he targeted Hronek's  head.  Even if it is somehow legal it isn't a hit that needs to be made unless your goal is to give people serious brain injuries.

Wings have around 10 players out, I believe?

Goal drought reached several periods until Soderblom gave the Wings a lifeline late in 2nd - only for Wild to get it back 15 seconds later. 3-1 Minnesota after 2.

Wings didn't do much in the 3rd. Then an ENG clinches it for the Wild, 4-1. Back to back losses, back to back boring games. The Wings are facing biggest test of season now. Need to stop this little slide if they are to remain in sight of the playoffs.

With all these injuries I think this season is toast.  They're barely ahead of their point pace from last year if even that at this point, I'm too scared to look it up to confirm.

The fourth line of Soderblom, Kubalik and Veleno is buzzing. Veleno made the game 1-0 after good plays from everyone and then drew a penalty a few shifts later.

How did that go in? Sens sneak one in from impossible angle. 1-1. This is a must win game.

Wallman banks one in off of Erne! Way to earn that one haha.  My phone wanted to autocorrect to Walkman which I’m shocked is in today’s lexicon.

Seems like it’s a throw pucks at the net type of game on both sides, 2-2 after the first
