Deleterious Posted January 4 Posted January 4 Great read if you have a WSJ subscription. It’s the Most Indispensable Machine in the World—and It Depends on This Woman Extreme ultraviolet lithography machine is what they are talking about and it makes microchips. Six companies on earth own these machines. One Dutch company is the only one that makes them. The air in the room where the machine is located is 100x cleaner than an operating room. Quote ASML teamed up with a German optical company to develop mirrors so flat that if they were scaled up to the size of Germany itself, their largest imperfection would be less than a millimeter. The precision of EUV machines is comparable to directing a laser beam from your house and hitting a ping-pong ball on the moon. Quote

oblong Posted January 6 Posted January 6 Minor nitpick, you have the Wings behind a year in the 86-87. They made the Campbell finals in 87, then again in 88 in the Goose Loonies series. 87 was the year they came back from 3-1 against Toronto in one of my favorite playoff experiences ever. Quote
Deleterious Posted January 22 Posted January 22 Clio Road location in the 90's. Drive thru all hung over and get two cheeseburgers two fries and a pop for $3. Not sure why I'm excited about this. The one in Sturgis is pretty close and I never go. Throwback burger chain Hot 'n Now is being resuscitated, but will Metro Detroit get one? Quote
oblong Posted January 22 Posted January 22 My favorite podcast to listen to is The Rewatchables, run by Bill Simmons and his Ringer group. It's them talking about movies that are "Rewatchable", meaning we've all seen them a million times on cable, etc. It forces me sometimes to either watch a movie I just passed over all these years (even if they haven't done it yet but they keep referenceing it) or to revisit a one and done movie I just forgot about. Sea of Love and Running Scared are examples of this. The reason I'm posting this is when they did Running Scared a few months ago I searched for it and it was on Tubi. They make fun of Tubi. I made fun of Tubi. An old friend is a local actor and he stars in a series that's shown on Tubi, it's Detroit made. So I went to Tubi to watch Running Scared. My verdict? Tubi ****ing rules. It's got nearly everything. Yeah commercials. I don't care about that. If you like to watch TV and movies or are considering giving up the ohter streaming sites, give this one a shot. 1 Quote
Deleterious Posted January 27 Posted January 27 She ended up speaking and taking a few questions for over 20 minutes. Just linking the short version but you can find the long one easy enough. I guarantee she did not want to do this. But they have been taking a beating since the problems at Lafyette came out last week. She basically had no choice but to do this and she did a great job. I like Tubi best of all of them, mainly because they are easier to use and have on demand. Quote

The Rats live at American, but they prefer to eat at Lafayette. If rat poop is in my coney chili, I'm fine with it because 60 years later no coney dog from Lafayette ever has made me sick and it's delicious. Quote

He went around them, so either he looked up and swerved around them at the last minute without realizing those cars were stopped for a train, or he just tried to beat the train. Quote

Seriously, since the conversion to digital, I don't think I've talked to anyone this far away (A^2) who is using over the air. On the west side of A^2 we never got analog over the air very well from Det even with pretty large antennae - Toledo was as good and then you needed a rotor to get back and forth. Is the range for broadcast digital supposed to be worse, better, comparable? Quote
