MichiganCardinal Posted January 3, 2023 Author Posted January 3, 2023 I think the Thursday game - and safety surrounding it - will be a point of emphasis for the NFLPA in the next CBA. Without having any stats to support me, it definitely feels like more injuries happen on Thursday Nights than is typical of any given Sunday. I don’t think the NFL will ever do away with a weekday primetime game, but I could see an agreement that expands bye weeks and allows for TNF to be played only by teams that had a bye the prior weekend. Might come with an 18th game and a 2nd bye week, and in the 20-week season teams will have two bye weeks spread between weeks 2-18, allowing for TNF to be played in weeks 3-19. Quote

Push the playoffs back a week—there is no need to have two weeks between the conference finals and the Super Bowl—one week would suffice. Can't seem them doing that, it would cause too many complications with venues, sponsors etc. What they should do is either declare the game a tie or reschedule for the middle of this week if the coaches/players are up to it (doiubtful) Quote
Hongbit Posted January 3, 2023 Posted January 3, 2023 This is the NFL. They’ve done some shady shit in the past to protect their interests. Nothing stops the money from flowing. Not head trauma, CTE, and now cardiac arrest. Expect them to do their thing and it will come out that Demar had undetected heart issues and this is an individual issue and not an NFL issue. He and his family will be well compensated for their cooperation and silence. Quote
buddha Posted January 3, 2023 Posted January 3, 2023 you'll all forget about this in two weeks. just like you forgot about tua's HORRIFIC INJURY a few weeks ago. Quote

From a human standpoint, you can’t make these teams play anytime soon. From just a football standpoint, it’s not fair to the rest of the AFC to declare a tie. That would essentially count as a half win for each team instead of a loss and have a huge impact on seeding and standings. Quote

Just have those two clubs have played 16 games and everyone else 17. 1 Quote

The playoffs would be seeded by winning percentage. I really doubt anyone will be saying the Bills or even the Bengals got any kind of advantage from last night. Both teams were traumatized. Really, the only team that could have a gripe about it is the Chiefs and maybe the Ravens, and the whole country would hate them if they did gripe. Quote

Yes, that would make more sense and seems like the more likely outcome although "sense" doesn't always apply with the NFL so I can see them trying to force a midweek rescheduling. I do know that pushing back week 17 another week will not happen. Quote
RandyMarsh Posted January 3, 2023 Posted January 3, 2023 Doubt he finishes above Sauce or Woolen for Rookie DPOY but Hutch has definitely been coming on strong down the stretch. BTW Houston is 6th among all DEs in that time as well. Quote

Wasn't it originally "officially" determined to be a back injury? I could be mistaken, but I thought I heard that was the ruling and then the Dolphins/NFL kind of tiptoed away from that prognosis over time. Quote

Hongbit Posted January 4, 2023 Posted January 4, 2023 (edited) This game is going to be about the Lions OL. If the one that dominates in the run and gives Goff all day shows up, the Lions have a great chance. They are good enough to push around any defense in the league when they are on. If it’s the one that collects multiple holding and false start penalties and struggles in pass pro they will get embarrassed by a much improved GB defense. Edited January 4, 2023 by Hongbit Quote

MichiganCardinal Posted January 5, 2023 Author Posted January 5, 2023 I feel like this is the kind of game Dan Campbell is made for. He’s the kind of coach where if you give him ONE GAME, and say that this ONE GAME is all that matters, he will get 1000% out of his men. That energy can’t necessarily sustain across ten game stretches (see Jets and Panthers), and it doesn’t mean you’ll beat teams that are clearly better (see Bills), but you give him a play-in game, under the lights, with a national audience, I think we will see this team’s best punches, win or lose.
