djhutch Posted March 13, 2023 Posted March 13, 2023 Holmes doubled up on the DL 2 years ago in the draft, so I don't think he's opposed to still going CB at 6 or 18. Obviously depends on how the board falls. Quote
Motown Bombers Posted March 13, 2023 Posted March 13, 2023 I would still like to get a CB high in the draft. Sutton isn't a long term option and Okudah is still an unknown. As bad as the secondary was last year, they still have to replace Amani, Harris and Hughes. Their even lacking warm bodies in the secondary. Quote
Mr.TaterSalad Posted March 13, 2023 Author Posted March 13, 2023 https://theathletic.com/3492772/2022/08/10/cameron-sutton-steelers-training-camp/ Mike Tomlin describing Sutton as the smartest player he's ever coached. If Mike Tomlin says so then that makes me feel that much better about this signing. It sounds like, from this quote and others by Tomlin and his former teammates, that Cam Sutton is very much a cerebral type of player who won't make boneheaded mental mistakes. Feels like he will be a perfect culture fit for what Campbell wants to build. Quote
Jason_R Posted March 13, 2023 Posted March 13, 2023 There you go. They filled their biggest need with a very good player on reasonable terms. Now we can put away the pitchforks. Quote

Motown Bombers Posted March 13, 2023 Posted March 13, 2023 I get the sense the Packers and Jets have probably agreed to a trade but it's still in Aaron Rodgers court. Trey Wingo IIRC is big Jets fan so I'd rather hear from someone in Rodgers camp. Probably announce it on McAfee tomorrow. Quote

Hongbit Posted March 13, 2023 Posted March 13, 2023 This is so much more than what I anticipated he’d sign. Either the market is exploding or the dumb ass Bears did quite an overpay. Quote
Motown Bombers Posted March 13, 2023 Posted March 13, 2023 I'm confused why they didn't just re-sign Roquan Smith? Quote
Hongbit Posted March 13, 2023 Posted March 13, 2023 (edited) Turns out they picked up an extra second round pick and got a similar player. Although I don’t think they needed to go that high to kelp Roquan. Edited March 13, 2023 by Hongbit Quote

Hongbit Posted March 13, 2023 Posted March 13, 2023 Never in a million years was Holmes going to pay him that kind of money. 1 Quote
Motown Bombers Posted March 13, 2023 Posted March 13, 2023 People on Twitter saying if we had a QB on a rookie contract we could have signed Edmunds. Being cheap at QB and overpaying at LB seems same old Lions to me. Quote

MichiganCardinal Posted March 13, 2023 Posted March 13, 2023 Bears are devoting a lot of money to (arguably) the least valuable position on the defense. They’ll be able to cover Hock and Josh Oliver. They’ll watch Justin Jefferson, ASB, and Jamo take them to the house. Quote
