This is the absolute best strategy. If you can move down, stay in the top 12 or so. And then pick up a 2nd rd pick this year and an additional 1st next year then you do it.

That almost never works out better for the team trading down

I've seen a couple new mocks now have the Seahawks trading up with the Giants at 5 to grab Willis with the offer of number 9, a 2nd and either a 3rd or 4th. Would you take that if they offered that to us or would you want atleast a future 1st to fall back that far?

Seattle may be willing to part with Denver's 1st next year. It would probably a late 20's.  I would maybe take that in lieu of the 2nd and have 3 1sts next year.

Brad Holmes seems the master of mining for late round Wide Receivers and so I hope the Lions take a serious look at Wan'Dale Robinson, WR out of Kentucky. WHO? His RAS is nothing special outside of his fantastic speed, but his highlight tapes are great, the guy is shifty and elusive as hell and he catches everything thrown his way. He'd be another St. Brown type of WR, but if we can get a guy like him at the end of the 3rd or 4th I'd consider it.

I don’t think Robinson makes it out of the second round. I would take him with the 2nd pick of the 3rd round if we haven’t yet taken a WR. He’s got a WR1 ceiling if his speed can translate to separation at the NFL level.

WR1?

at 5' 8" 180 and 4.44 speed?

This is sarcasm, right?

Deeboo Samuel is a #1 guy and that's who Robinson compares closest too imo. I think Robinson is too small and not quite polished or well rounded enough overall to be a #1, but he could be a firecracker of a #2 (or #3 on a loaded roster) guy.

As others already mentioned, I’ve seen Tyreek Hill comparisons for Robinson. The height will scare people off, but a guy like Hill could be 5’6” with the separation he creates. And once you have the ball in his hands, height doesn’t matter. His game is not “just” speed, it’s agility and get-off that allows him to nearly instantly have a step and a half on his corner, and then make multiple defenders miss.

You don’t put up numbers like Robinson did at Kentucky without being good. He was the only NFL caliber offensive weapon on that roster and was still getting open against SEC defenses. I think he is similar to Raymond in that he would quickly put Raymond out of a job, but the comparisons stop there.

He was a YAC monster at Kentucky. In the right offensive system I think he could be that same type of player. A Wide Receiver version of a Darren Sproles or a smaller Deebo Samuel.

Not necessarily advocating for Robinson but I think it's fair to point out for a receiver like him height is really meaningless. I mean it's not like you are throwing jump or 50/50 balls to them. Their whole skillset is getting open away from defenders where size doesn't matter and then creating damage in the open field.

its a question of how you get off the line against nfl cornerbacks who are bigger, stronger, and faster than college ones.

it seems like we fall in love with little college wrs every year.  guys who dominated in college but never pan out in the pros because they're not strong enough to compete with big nfl players.
